eugovector: go to the BIOS menu and try to make the following changes. 1) DRAM clock rate: change it from 'Auto' to 'Manual', or something to that effect. Then, enter DDR2-800 or 400MHz (depending on the wording of the option; careful) in the clock speed field. Make sure this won't screw up your FSB speed setting. Meanwhile, ensure a good FSB : DRAM ratio such that your CPU still runs at your target speed, without being modified due to the DRAM speed change you just made. 2) DRAM command rate (if available): force a '2T' timing, or leave 'Auto' if 2T is not shown. If the DRAM timing settings are also available, set them to 4-4-4-12 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS). 3) DIMM (or DRAM) voltage: set between 1.90v and 2.00v if available. The lower (to achieve the DDR2-800 speed stable), the better. Run memtest86+ 2.01 overnight to ensure stability (i.e. no red errors after 8 hours). If your motherboard doesn't offer DRAM voltage adjustment and you can't get your 4 sticks stable with the default/stock voltage, you have to lower your DRAM clock until they are stable. Keep in mind this can be a lengthy process. Once your memory speed is verified overnight, boot to Windows and use CPU-Z to confirm that your memory, FSB and CPU speed settings are all correct. Hope this helps. |
