This is refurbished, and carries (only) a 90 day manufacturers warranty. Still, at ~ $200 (including SH) for a S-IPS panel, it's awesome! Read reviews on Newegg for it. If you're looking for something for photo editing, this is an amazing deal, IMO. 6ms response time is good enough for gaming too.

The good:

- Received it after ~ 1 week.
- Beautiful S-IPS panel
- DVI, VGA and component inputs -- Despite the specs listed below, it supposedly does support HDCP
- Immediately noticed a dead pixel, but figured I could live with it because the image is so great
- Built in speakers are removable; they're not awful sound for built in speakers if you need them.

- Requested an RMA to see what they would:
** Cross shipping, they pay shipping both ways
** Price went down $16 since I bought it, so they refunded this
** They pulled the monitor from the box and tested it for dead pixels before shipping
** I'll receive the replacement tommorow; but I assume it will be fine
** They also swapped the white one for a black for me during the return, because I changed my mind about the color! (I don't see the black ones on-line anymore though.)

The bad:
- Only 90 day warranty
- Does not ship with all original components (no DVI cable) or box; my first one was missing the remote, which they sent
- Only 20"

Shipping was half the price here.

Yes, good point -- I only noticed that after I bought it -- they actually refunded me money when I called and complained about it!

Also, they said orders are fulfilled from Amazon at the end of the day, so if the stock gets low (there are plenty right now), keep that in mind.

A lot of Newegg reviewers who paid > $400 are in love with this thing. Ever since I played around with a 24" iMac I've been lusting for an IPS. Must...resist....

Interesting link.

One of the best flat screen monitors/TV ever made. This was when NEC means the highest quality .. There are a rash of new 24" monitors made from IPS panel matrix coming to the market. They are not outrageously expensive depending on features and MFGer.

great monitor, kaka

God I wish they'd keep making MVA and IPS panels...it seems like there's a trend, as panel prices drop, to only make TN panels. I'm not sure if the higher quality panels are really drying up or if its just met....

That'd be awesome, got any models? Did a quick google search and couldn't find much.

This should be one. I hope I am not wrong but watching football now .. After you finish reading the review, page up to HOME and you should find several other models/make of such 24" IPS monitors. Some are very expensive of >$1000. I am interested because I do not own an IPS monitor and would like one.

Do they have this monitor in 4:3 size (1600x1200)?

Not quite the same, but still S-IPS for $232 : http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/LCD2080UX%2BBK. Slow response time listed in the specs, and no TV functions, if that matters to you.

Also, in regards to the TV -- The built-in tuner is pretty much worthless, but it takes a component input and can display it PIP -- Kind of neat -- Not that an IPS panel is all that for TV/Video anyway.

great deal for an S-IPS panel. It's been a while since a quality LCD deal was posted (aside from all the cheap TN panels). Miss the days when deals on above average quality LCDs were abundant; mostly from the multitude of Dell deals on 2005fpw / 2007fpw

I noticed that there was both a "factory refurbished" and "scratch and dent" for sale. There is a link to click on the pictures for the scratch and dent but all that comes up are the accessories that are included/not included. Anyone have any experience buying a scratch and dent through that company? Thanks for the hel

Quick update:

I received my replacement today; despite the best efforts of UPS, it works great. Zero dead pixels, remote included, and now it's black instead of white.

niicceem : No kidding; I've been lurking around for awhile, and used to see great deals on M/PVA panels, and now they're really tough to come by. My primary concern is photo editing, so this was an exciting find!

I'd probably jump on this if it came with a DVI cable.

This monitor will literally change your computing experience. I bought one of these about 5 months ago (it came from a PVA panel, and have seen many TN's) and you simply would not believe how much better this thing is. This is the single best upgrade you'll ever purchase for your computer. Trust me, it is that good.

I have no idea how reliable this seller is though...
