NEWS STORY


use up gift cards, make your returns by 10/14 in case they are no longer honored once bankruptcy-GOB sales start


note, the story in the press has been changing since first published in NJ papers late afternoon on 10/7/08. While there's hope a buyer can be found, it should also be noted a date has been set to start bankruptcy/going out of business sales as of 10/14. At that time, returns and gift cards may no longer be honored as is the case in liquidation sales so often!So this is a 'heads up' post to everyone with merchandise to return or gift cards to spend at LNT

Man…whenever I enjoy/happy dealing with a business it gets closed down…

Wamu was great but took over by chase
LNT was great but going bankrupt
CC is great but will be gone soon

Next in my list are Staples, CVS , Amazon and Costco. Hope they will stick around.

I got a friend who's good. $570 per hour, accepts gift credit.

actually, no, but LNT is headquartered there which is why this was one of the earliest/best news stories on the topic.

Sorry about the repost, only searched hot deals and didn't see this. Because SO MANY hot deals came from LNT over the years, I'm sure there's some folks holding gift cards, returns, etc and this seems "HOT" not to get stuck with a $50 gift card in 2 weeks.

Staples is pretty strong ,, OfficeMax is the one that will disappear and then the deals at Staples and OfficeDepot will disappear ... Amazon is profitable as are the wholesale clubs ..

This has not been finalized yet!

The Clifton-based retailer today asked bankruptcy court for permission to auction off its remaining 371 stores on Oct. 14 and begin going-out-of-business sales two days later. A hearing on the auction request was scheduled for Friday.

thats maybe the case, however, remember, this is second time in 6 months LNT has been through this. They may try to sell or spin off any profitable/excellent location stores to someone else. But personally, I'm not waiting til they make the final announcement to spend a $40 GC I have.
