It's an OEM chip, but it has a 1 year warranty from Frys. You'll need to buy a seprate Heatsink/Fan.

The retail version of this chip goes for $269.99 at newegg
ewiz(who commonly has low prices on CPUs) has this OEM CPU for $260

Low price for OEM. Box fan is noisy anyway. Sensitive to overheating though, OClockers beware. Still looking for Q9550 under $290.

I got a Q9550 retail for ~$240 with the recent eBay/MS Live 30% off deal. Also don't forget the new Q8xxx series are now out so the prices for the 1st gen Q6xxx and these Q9xxxx series quads should drop well below current pricing.

I've been planning on getting an E8500. Looks like the Q9450 is a little faster than the E8500 but the Q9400 has half the L2.

Any thoughts?

The price is showing $275.00 when I hit your link and searching on Fry's page. The only thing coming up at $219 is the Q8200 that I can find.
