I found out today that Publix gives free antibiotics--up to a 14 day supply of the most common antibiotics. Maybe someone can benefit from this info.

Free and without a prescription?
If this is true, this is a terrible idea.
Antibiotics need to be prescribed by a physician.
Thanks my friend just needed some penicillian so I passed it on to her.

Eh.... I'm pretty certain that you would have to take in a valid Rx before they just GAVE you medication. ![]()
A company like Publix isn't just going to hand out Rx drugs to people asking for them... that type of practice is absolutely illegal, and the company would be ridiculously punished for it.

Text of the offer reads "Just bring your prescription for one of the oral antibiotics listed to your neighborhood Publix Pharmacy and receive it FREE, up to a 14-day supply."
I think it's a great deal - thanks OP. I just wish I still lived in a state that had Publix...
You do have to have a doctor's written Rx, but then the antibiotic is free.

WTFThat made me lol xD
What a great deal! I'm allergic to almost all of those antibiotics, so I can't use the coupon. My other family members can definitely use it, though. Thanks, op!
I am in New York so no go. thanks anyways, their stores are only in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Well, if you're lucky enough to get sick while you're at Disney World, whoo hoo! We use publix all the time when on vacation in florida; just brings back funny story of how one trip Dad and Bro both got sick - one with a UTI and the other with epididymitis!...lucky we had insurance!
LOL.. the things we remember.
Thanks OP!

Ummmm... no. Read the FAQ. You linked to an archived post. Here is what the FAQ says;
• if the original topic has been archived, feel free to create a new thread.
The archived post is from Hot Deals, so the real question isn't whether this is a post that cannot be reposted, but is this the correct forum. The mods haven't moved it, don't know if you, or anyone else, sent any alerts in regarding it being a repost or wrong forum, so they seem to be okay with it. The fact is that this freebie does not show up in a search for current offers in FS forum. The OP met the posting criteria.
The concept of FREE antiobiotics KILLS people...
Antibiotic resistance: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Antibiotic resistance can be a result of horizontal gene transfer[1], and also of unlinked point mutations in the pathogen genome and a rate of about 1 in 108 per chromosomal replication. The antibiotic action against the pathogen can be seen as an environmental pressure; those bacteria which have a mutation allowing them to survive will live on to reproduce. They will then pass this trait to their offspring, which will result in a fully resistant colony.
Several studies have demonstrated that patterns of antibiotic usage greatly affect the number of resistant organisms which develop[citation needed]. Overuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics, such as second- and third-generation cephalosporins, greatly hastens the development of methicillin resistance. Other factors contributing towards resistance include incorrect diagnosis, unnecessary prescriptions, improper use of antibiotics by patients, the impregnation of household items and children's toys with low levels of antibiotics, and the use of antibiotics as livestock food additives for growth promotion.
Researchers have recently demonstrated the bacterial protein LexA may play a key role in the acquisition of bacterial mutations.[2]
As more people request (demand) antiobiotics from physicians and have NO FINANCIAL CONSEQUENCES TO REGULATE THEIR STUPID BEHAVIOR, more people WILL die from resistant diseases.
"Free" antibiotics are not "free"...they cost LIVES!
Learn people before it's too late.
im certainly no fan of most modern medicine, but antibiotics do not kill people. stupidity and doctor worship kill people. i have had a few ocassions where i needed antibiotics, but i am smart enough to do my research and know the risks.
i do agree antibiotics are heavily overused, but i dont think the answer is to charge people who may otherwise not be able to afford them. the answer is education and self responsibility. do not blindly put your health and well being into anothers hands, and take medications only when absolutely needed.
Uhh you guys are clearly not medical professionals. Most common antibiotics are available over the counter, without a script. Go check your local fish store, it's the same doseages, same EXACT STUFF. Halfdeaddavid has it correct, antibiotics do not kill people--mismanagement of medication and information kills people.
