If anyone is in the market for Paradigm Millenia speakers, 6th Avenue Electronics has them for sale online (silver finish only) at over 40% off list price + free shipping.

http://www.6Ave.com/shop/category.aspx?cti=0133&pti=0100

Very rare to find Paradigm speakers available for sale online from authorized dealers as Paradigm normally restricts sales to area B&M dealers which do not usually offer deep discounts on this brand. Don't know for sure, but guessing that Paradigm may have authorized this in order to liquidate inventories on the silver finish Millenia's which may not sell as well as the black finish.

Anyway, thought I would post this since I stumbled across this deal on the web after recently purchasing from a local dealer for a much higher price even after a nice discount

I suspect these are probably in stock in limited quantities so if you've been looking for these and have been on the fence, this is a killer deal!!!

Paradigm Millenia 20, 30, 200, 300, and 200 Trio are all on sale. SILVER ONLY.

LINK HERE.

I won these speakers in black. These are part of the Reference Line of Paradigm speakers, just as the Studio Series are. They compete with the Def tech Mythos. these speakers are designed with flat panel televisions in mind, meaning, they are slim and sleek looking and have a high WAF (wife approval factor).

They perform extremely well with both music and movies. I recommend a sub paired with this system.

You should not buy these speakers if you are going to pair them with a Sony receiver, an Onkyo 605/606, or any other receiver that won't be able to drive them properly. Could you? Sure. But these speakers shine when driven with higher end receivers/amps.

Some audiophiles do not like these compared with the Studio 100s. The Studio 100s take up about 3x the footprint of these speakers and have huge drivers which could never fit inside this box.

Studio 100s are not recommended to be placed up against a wall so not only are they deep but they need room behind them. Not so with these speakers.

It is a slight trade-off with sound quality v. WAF/footprint but in my opinion it is worth it. The Studio 100s are the benchmark I use to judge every speaker on the market as they are the finest sounding speaker I have ever heard, when powered correctly. The Millenia can hold their own pretty well.

In the store these were being driven by an Anthem amp and they were just glorious. I literally got goosebumps at how they sounded. I drive them with a Yamaha at 130w x 5 and they still sound great although not as good as the Anthem (which is the cadillac of amps).

At 40% off simply because of color these are an absolute steal. And yes, the silver just arent selling and this is an authorized sale by Paradigm.

.

You say all that and end with a Yamaha amp?!!? There's a 99.9% chance that Onkyo you mention will sound exactly, and I mean, exactly the same as your Yamaha.

As always - LISTEN to speakers before buying them.

I'm a Paradigm fanboy and salivated over the Millenia pix when first announced; but one listen was all it took to destroy that excitement. Bought a pair of Studio 60's instead and couldn't be happier...

Do not waste money on these unless Wife Acceptance Factor(WAF) is your main priority. Hard to get more than 15-20% off retail from an Authorized dealer - so good find OP! (Of course those savings are offset by the obligatory Midol for your vaginitis...)

But don't take my opinion or anyone else's - Listen for yourself.

Midol... LOL! Glad to hear you love your 60's. They are sweet indeed. And great advice that goes without saying to listen to speakers before buying them!

The virtue of these speakers (as compared to other models in the Paradigm lineup) has been discussed ad nauseum over in the AVS forum. Some like 'em, some think they sound like junk when compared to other speakers on the Paradigm lineup such as the Studios. Of course, opinions can vary greatly on what sounds good to one person may not sound so pleasing to the next, but given the more traditional implementation of the Studio line, you would expect to get a richer, fuller sound from them... And yes, a good sub is a MUST have to pair with the Millenias.

Personally, the Millenia's sound great to my non-audiophile ears (90% movies/TV, 10% music) and they've fit my requirements perfectly (and yes, WAF was a major factor since these are used in our main living area and not a dedicated theater room). While I would agree that you can get more speaker for your $$$ going with the Studio line, I hardly feel like I "wasted" my money on these either (although I would agree that at full MSRP, they are overpriced for what they are). The Studios would have looked really out of place in our room. So yes, I was willing to take the perceived "hit" on sound quality in order to get the aesthetics, WAF and lifetime supply of Midol. If I was fitting a dedicated theater room then it would be a different story.

Anyway, not really here to debate the sound quality of these vs other speakers nor sway someone's decision one way or another... but rather just to pass along what is, at least to this point, a very HOT deal on a line of speakers that rarely sees this level of discounting.

YMMV

Funny you mention the Anthem Amp driving the Millenia's in the store where you listened to them... One of the dealerships where I listened to the Millenias were also being driven by an Anthem Amp. They sounded awesome in the store. They still sound great to me at home, but I'm not using an Anthem either... Instead a Denon 3808 (130w/ch) which provides ample power, but they did sound slightly better to me in the dealership when hooked up to the Anthem. Of course, room acoustics can play a big part in that as well and my room is an acoustical nightmare. Goes to show you that many factors contribute to the overall speaker SQ including power source, room acoustics, room layout/size, etc.

Thanks OP.

I assume you can hang the 30's on the wall too?

This is very bad. My Monitor Audio's are only 2 years old, but I have an Anthem amp!!

I drive Paradigm Phantoms (front) and Titans (rear) from my Sony ES amp just fine. I drove them from my previous Sony ES amp just fine (even though it was actually a crappy amp, having noise floor problems) and from my Sony ES amp before that just fine (which was the best sounding amp I've ever owned, better sounding than my audio-only Denon I own).

None of these 3 amps have had any problem producing enough power (including "reserve power") to drive Paradigms effectively. In fact, my two-ago Sony ES amp (STR-DA90ESG) had no problem running my Infiniti speakers, which were acoustic suspension (no ported bass) and 4 Ohm and thus needed far more power than any of these speakers to sound good.

Yes, your assumption is correct. The 30's and 20's are wall hangable. The floor standing 300's and 200's obviously are not.

Gotta love the Anthem amp! Perhaps when the household discretionary budget builds itself back up, I may have to go on the hunt for one of them...

I have been looking at Studio 100 for some time. A dealer near my home quotes $2200 pair, which seems too high. It is about 10% off MSRP, I think. There are only a few online retailers, and the prices are not that great. Any suggestion on what would be a good price for these speakers? Thanks.

I have a set of Studio 100s version 2. They are about 4 years old. I bought them with a Servo 15 sub, studio 20s for rear and Studio CC center. The setup is powered by a denon 3803. It's old school now, but it still does everything I need. Getting a good set of speakers will last years. I'd love to have a dedicated amp to power my setup, but my receiver and IV are getting old enough to think about an upgrade.

As for Paradigm speakers, they offer a good value. I've owned two sets total, and sold the first set I had to a friend. They still sound good and are fully functional after 15 years or so. The biggest reason I upgraded was finding a deal that would allow me to get the servo 15 for free if I purchased the other 5. That was 25% off or more.

Checkout Audiogon.com. You can find some great deals on slightly used, dealer demos, etc.

If you go the buy "new" route, I would think that at least 20% off list should be doable. Some dealers seem to be more willing to deal than others. Perhaps with the economy being in the clunker, now and for the forseeable future, perhaps dealers may be willing to haggle a bit more...

Get another 5% off with AFL5 code. AFL6 and Fall9908 codes are out there too but YMMV.

Thanks for the code. I couldn't resist at this price since I always wanted these.

Anthem is a division of Paradigm (or is it the other way around?? Either way they are both part of the same parent company). They probably sound so much better due in part to the matching that can take place throughout the design stage to make them sound even that much better. I agree that the Anthem sounds great (of course I am running an ATI amplifier being fed from an Anthem AVM50, now there is some serious sound).

Good for you. What model(s) did you end up ordering? I'm almost wishing I didn't come across this deal now... I purchased my 5.1 setup back in August and it cost me about $1k more than what I could have gotten them for online now... Of course, at that time, they were not available for sale online and without any clue that this opportunity would have presented itself... Figures...

ES does not equal Sony to me. i should have been more clear, sure, and I shouldn't have assumed people knew I wasn't talking about the ES line. ES is head and shoulders above any of their consumer grade (DE, etc) lines. ES should power these fine.

Would a Harmon Kardon AVR247 be powerful enough to drive these?
