Careful with the 70% off offer....For $25.00 you have to spend $35...Most restaurants add in an 18% tip....I normally leave more but hate being told this is what I must leave...

Still a good deal if you enjoy dining out and would like to save some $$

I've been able to use some certificates at restaurants on carry-out orders, but still ended up paying the 18% gratuity fee. It's all still worth it to me if I feel like trying out a restaurant, but don't feel like dining in.

Perfect timing - we'll be cruising next week and the hotel we'll be staying at before we sail has a restaurant that is on restaurant.com list. The menu is overpriced (what hotel restaurant isn't), but they have a great breakfast buffet for $14/head, with $25 certificate the three of us can grab a great breakfast for $17 plus the $3 for the certificate purchase, can't do much better than that at McDonalds, let alone Denny's or IHop

Hey, question about proper etiquette when using these.

I'm ordinarily a 15-20% tipper. And the restaurant.com coupons suggest that you tip based on the full value of the check, okay, granted. However, every restaurant I've ever been to already sticks an 18% gratuity on the bill, based on the pre-discount check.

This absolves me of any need to tip, unless I think there's been stellar service which warrants >18% tip, right? I presume that their admonition about tipping is only if there's no automatic gratuity, right?

I just hate to think that I'm going to these restaurants and pissing them off by not tipping, but at the same time, I wouldn't bother using these things if I have to tip twice.

If the certificate results in a predetermined tip, that is the total tip as far as I am concerned and I do not leave anything more (even if I otherwise would have left a larger tip).

Well the tip is going to the server, so if the restaurant is adding 18% of the discounted amount, I'll usually put in a few extra bucks to make sure the server gets the tip on the full amount. They work for tips, so I don't want to short change them if they provided good service.

Dude, I hope this restaurant is not a hotel restaurant in Manchester NH: My wife and I went to the Nutfield Ale Steakhouse, and it was just awful--possibly the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. The NY strip was a sirloin, my "medium" was "well done and then some," and my wife's salmon was charred to a crisp.

How do they make money with these discounts!!!

They keep a cut and (at least for the resturants in my area) they require a $60 purchase (excluding alcohol). Doing $60 food at a Mexican place to get $15 off isn't worth it to me.

Server is getting their fair share - actually less than what I'd normally tip. However in talking with a server, they get people who decide to tip on the discounted price so this is probably better overall for the server

Nope, actually in Florida. But how bad can a breakfast be? Actually stayed there prior and was happy with the hotel and restaurant.
