I think the product description on this laptop from CC is somewhat confusing:
Dual core/64-bit processing: This laptop features the dual-core 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 processor. The Core 2 Duo has two processing engines that work together, giving this processor much more power than standard 2GHz processors. This processor built on 64 bits architecture, enabling it to handle twice as much information as older 32-bit processors. Intel Centrino technology enhances mobile performance and extends battery life.
and
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with SP1: Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system for homes with advanced computer needs. And Vista Premium features the elegant new Aero interface. You’ll be able to use your notebook more effectively and enjoy new entertainment experiences—all with the benefit of added security and reliability. The Service Pack 1 is also included.
I thought if the 64 bit MB needs window (64-bit) version....

That first sentence is junk....64b generally refers to the address space of the processor, which means it can support more ram. 32b vs 64b when talking about operating systems is a tricky topic. 32b has been the sdtandard forever and tons of stuff is still 32b only....Lot of hardware doesn't have 64 capable drivers etc...that's why most computers you see are still using the 32b version of whatever OS. 64b doesn't really get you anything IMHO, except compatability problems.
The reason a core 2 duo is good is that it has two newer better cores than say a pentium M. It's a lot faster than a core duo too, because the core is better and there's new instructions

I had bought the IdeaPad Y510 and hated it since the screen was like a mirror. It was hard to see things sometimes.
Any idea if the screen is better on this one??

Some people like the mirror screen because it looks good. Obviously it is hard to see under bright condition. But still , we want our things to look great.
Strange thing is, the 1-year warranty does not include ANY warranty on the battery AT ALL! And I had a hard time finding a replacement battery on Lenovo.com also... So fellow buyers be warned. But still a very nice lappy for this price.

anybody know what the graphics on here is? Sheesh...im all over Circuit City and Lenovo.com and can't get a straight answer. even the notebook model Y430-5231 has both intel and nvidia drivers listed on the page....anyone vouch for the units ability to handle a game like counterstrike source, half life portal, warcraft three? im wondering if starcraft2 will work on here...
One of the reviews mentioned that one of the CPUs of the the laptop is locked or something like that. Does this make sense ? I've never heard of anything like tha.t

I hear the keyboard has the function key in the lower left corner instead of the control key being there. For me, I play light games on my laptop, like CS 1.6, starcraft, etc. the control key being shifted over makes it a bit harder
