Better deal would be the $1599 2.5 GHz MacBook Pro (previous edition) in the clearance section (Apple EDU) or $1499 in the refurfb section of the Apple Store. The new laptops do have faster busses and minor upgrades, but In my opinion these previous edition MacBook Pros are a steal at this price. |

Im keeping my 17" Macbook Pro deal from last month. $1799 with the HD Display option and a 7200 rpm 200GB hard drive. No tax and free shipping. That was a deal. |

Ugh... what a USELESS thread. Stupid anti-mac posts get Super Green ratings... Pro-mac posts get Super Red ratings... I'm just getting a headache trying to read this thing... I've been a PC user since the IBM PC jr (circa 1982) era, and yet, I am seriously considering changing my primary laptop to a Mac for the SOLE reason of fantastic build quality. My ultralight Sony Vaio TXP (not cheap at $1800 back then) is great, but I feel like the plastic will snap at any moment. Anyhow... my real question to those in this thread is... Are the features in the new 15" MBP worth the $500 premium? If you answer is Yes, please explain why: is it the multi-touch glass trackpad? Nvidia chipset? aesthetics? If your answer is No: please try to limit you anti-Mac flames. Thanks OP! And let's try to keep this on-topic! |

Im with you on that Yoshi. I've been a PC user since windows 3.1. every school i've attended up to high school all used macs, but when then i was a pc user. Up until recently. I decided to move onto macs because their build quality is far superior to any other laptop manufacturer. Not only the build quality, the service is top notch! Last week I was on the phone with a Dell rep who's first language was definitely not english...after 10 minutes on hold...and not getting my issues resolved 30 min later...feeling angry...resorted to going on craigslist to buy an ac adapter for my Dell laptop by the end of the day. apple...you can just walk into the store and they will help you face to face. with apple, you get quality and service. everything else is just bland. btw. im getting a new macbook in the coming weeks...although this deal is quite tempting...the video card issue puts me off though. |

Just an FYI, these same models are going for $1450 (if you get lucky) to $1550 (lots available) brand new and sealed from reputable sellers on eBay via Buy It Now, so minus $200 from live.com makes it $1250-$1350... |

BTW, Apple agreed to honor Nvidia chip replacement in case of failure, up to 2 years for those without extended warranty. This was stated in a previous poster's URL. Is there any reason to still be put off by this deal? |
