Until October 31st, 2008, you can use the following coupon to get a free tall Caffe Latte, Cappuccino, Espresso, Brewed Coffee, or Hot Tea from Barnes & Noble (Up to $3.20 Value), as well as 15% off one item.

No. Coupon clearly states "Swipe member card (if applicable) I was wondering the same thing. How does the customer know whether or not the member card is "applicable?" I'm sure the coupon scans, but how do I know whether or not the clerk expects me to show a card first? I suspect a degree of YMMV on this. I'm gonna try anyway.
Not complaining, just discussing a legitimate concern, Sarabrianne.
Hah! teeteeboy's post gives some validation to my question.

Actually I would ask her to go play volleyball and then shower together afterwards.
It's a new thing. It's kind of like pizza delivery -- you call in your order and they deliver a cup of coffee to you really fast so it arrives steaming hot.

OK, FW'ers - here's the scoop - I just ran across the street to the B&N and
YES - I DID GET A FREE CAP (A free VENTI Latte to be exact),
the catch was I did need to use my B&N member number. Even though it says clearly on the coupon how to ring it up w/out a card. The Barista said he heard about these coupons and knew they were coming soon, but his understanding was that you needed to have a card.
This makes sense so they can track one time use, otherwise, I could use it countless times.

I got a Cappuccino this morning without being asked for a B&N membership card.

They don't. I've already used the coupon twice without a membership card.
If you read beyond the first sentence about the member card it states, "Use MBR Free Item (F6) for Members and Free Item (F3) for all other customers."
Tell your Barista to hit F3 if using this coupon as a non-member becomes an issue.
how did you get VENTI WHEN THE COUPON SAYS TALL ONLY?

It might make sense to you but fortunately that is not the way that B&N set it up and it CAN be used countless times.

I waited in line so long they let me use 2 at once, instead of sending my DH back to stand in line.
