Does it come with a pre-installed operating system? I did not see any reference in the description.

Don't see why not, as long as the power supply is up to it (which I don't know). From the Gateway pics though, it looks to be a standard ATX PSU, so the worst that can happen is that I'll have to pop in one of those $5/FAR Ultras that are sitting in my garage
