I haven't followed this topic but I've got to say for the price this is a decent deal. I bought this same TV under two years ago and it was retailing for $569 after a discount, this was before tax as well. Final price was $629. I had a free giftcard though so only paid $260 out of pocket, so this $399 is sure getting much closer to what I ended up paying. TV has missing features, like PIP, for some reason they turned this off on the firmware update, but it works decent for the price paid. |

Checked the Costco here in Charlotte, NC. It is here and in quantity. Buying one this evening. Checked reviews. Mixed, but generally positive. Great find. Might be able to do better on BF, but I need one now. |

skrappiedew said:good deal, and an additional warranty sweetens it. However, I have not heard good things about westinghouse electronics. I guess they should stick to Nuclear reactors. Starting in 1998, the new WEC has licensed the famous brand for use on a multitude of products, some (though not all) of which were in similar categories to those sold by the historic version of the company. It should be noted that, though these products advertise the Westinghouse name, they are neither manufactured by the historic Westinghouse company nor are the quality standards necessarily actively maintained by WEC. |

I spent a ton of money on a Sony TV that broke outside of warranty and is now worthless my 32" Element LCD that I got on BF a couple years back is going strong (and I bought it for half the price of a branded TV) --- I'll never waste money on high end brand again |

Wow, I sooo wanna put this in my gf's and my bedroom. We have a 47" in the living room, a 37" for my PC, but just a CRT for the bedroom. I wanted to set up my PC with the 37" in our bedroom so that we can also use that as a TV, but I want to get back into PC gaming so having it in the bedroom when she sleeps is a bad idea. This might be the solution! I'll have to think about it... |

I purchased one about 2 weeks ago my Costco in Kirkland, Wa at this price. So far it has impressed me. The blacks are not as bad as I was expecting from a low end LCD. They're not as good as my Panny plasma, however, but as a bedroom TV, they're perfectly acceptable. Out of the box the picture was a little harsh and over processed but with some tweaking from Avia, I'm happy with it. Standard def TV is acceptable, HDTV is excellent, and Xbox 360 is amazing. |

How is the standard def compared to the panasonic plasma standard def ?(forget about blacks..panny rules always)

so if you can wait, do you guys suggest waiting until black friday or holiday sales to get a tv? Or do you think they will not get much cheaper than this. Cause I have read several times that it is expected that TVs will take a nose dive when it comes to price pretty soon. |

I saw this at the Sterling VA Costco today. It looks tempting to upgrade the small TV that we have in the kitchen. They also had a 32" Vizio (720p) for $529 and another 32" Vizio (1080p) for $599. The Westinghouse for $399 looks like a deal for a low end HDTV. I think I would trust the Vizio more but I can not see spending $70 more for 1080p on a 32" screen. I just will not make that much of a difference at that size. |

I guess you feel safer if these bozos build unreliable reactors than unreliable LCDs. I agree with others, though, about the value of brand... Couldn't care less, by now, most brands have become dissociated from the brand owners, with contract manufacturing in China or elsewhere even cheaper. Many coming from the same manufacturers anyway, if you are lucky, and unlicensed brand uses better QC, abd tighter manufacturing specs, but even that is questionable |

Snyder81 said:HowYouDoing said j7houston said:you know the economy is bad when a 32" set all of a sudden hits the $400 mark. This is fundamentally flawed argument. There are many factors that have contributed to the fall in prices of these TVs. My fear is that misconceptions like this are going to have an impact on the upcoming election. That is a fundamentally flawed fear...you see, most people will vote for whoever the TV tells them to vote for. The price of TV's has nothing to do with it.
Especially if the TV only gets FOX news. !!!!And if the tv only gets the "C"ommunist "N'ews "N"etwork! |
