I understand there are some other threads there for this phone, but I think this deal deserves a new one.
AT&T is offering the new (not refurb) Samsung A117 Go Phone , No Contract Prepaid Phone, for $20 - $20 rebate = Free. DealDigs has $20 Cash Back on this phone. The best thing is that DD has a new program - Weekly Instant Cash Back. According to its blog, members can get the Cash Back immediately for any orders placed under this program without waiting for 90 days. They are running this program on Samsung A117 this week.
I placed a test order yesterday, and my Cash Back is already available for redeeming today. So, even if I don't get my $20 AT&T rebate(although I believe I can get it), I already get this phone for free now. Really not bad for a backup phone.
Duo to it violates FW's policy to post link to other deal sites, I don't post the direct link here. To get the deal, simply go to DealDigs.com homepage and find it(the first deal).
Good deal, but is there anything about this phone that's especially good?

Any special terms in the rebate that we need to worry about? Like the phone needs to be activated and has a balance. Can I just get it, throw it and get the rebate.

I bought two Samsung A437 through Deaddigs and got my Cash Back back although I didn't keep any balance on it. I think the phone is shipped for pre-activated.

Good deal! Does anyone know whether this new Samsung A117 comes with a earbud headset which is important to me? I know a refurbished A437 does not. Thanks.

you don't have to sign any contract on this deal. It is Pay as You GO phone, or a prepaid phone. Just discard the SIM card in the order and use it as a backup phone for your current plan. If you unlock it, it can be used with any GSM provider if they run the networks on 850/1900 MHz.

no earbud headset, just the phone, battery, charger, and start up kit.

It looks like you are forced to buy a $25 airtime card at the same time. Tried to remove it and it didn't work. I have a San Jose, CA zip code.

I talked to a CSR because my CC got denied. She took the new CC number and said everything is in order to ship the phone out today itself. But then she realized its back ordered.
It looks like you have to keep the phone activated for 8 weeks to get the at&t promotion card.

Thanks OP. In for one. The rebate form that came with the e-mail says that the phone should have been activated and in-use when the rebate is being processed. This boils down to at least a single recharge in order to get the AT&T rebate.

No Nextel doesn't use GSM, it used their own iDEN network.
You can unlock this phone to use on AT&T or T-Mobile though. Search A117 for last post with east unlocking instructions.
How many threads do we need on the same deal though?

To complete the order: add to cart; select cart details; remove $25 airtime card (assuming you don't want it), then checkout.
I'm not entirely sure how the AT&T rebate will work. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see it mentioned in the "Mail-in Rebate via AT&T Promotion Card" link.
With or without the AT&T rebate, it's a good deal with the immediate CashBack.
First with different carrier SIM in phone at WRONG CARD screen ENTER on the keypad *2767*3855# (wait 10-15 seconds) phone will reboot(restart) When phone completes reboot ENTER *7465625*638*00000000*00000000# NEXT ENTER #7465625*638*00000000# AND THEN *#7465625# to check the locks....all locks are inactive...these are all the locks... network lock - inactive subset lock - inactive sp lock - inactive cp lock - inactive sim lock - inactive activa lock - inactive phone lock - inactive auto network - inactive auto subset lock - inactive auto sp lock - inactive auto cp lock - inactive

I was able to remove the $25 airtime card. What is the definition of 'activated' and 'in use'? Can I activate the phone with the enclosed SIM card without purchasing airtime? How will they determine if the phone is 'in use'?
I went through Moneyjar, supposedly I am going to get the cost of the phone back, so it should be $20 Cash_Back... that plus the rebate should be $20 profit...

When I did a similar deal on T-Mo, you had to activate the phone (SIM) by getting a number assigned to it and then place one call for it to be considered "in use". I was able to do that with the included starter kit and didn't buy extra air time. After I got my rebates I loaded the phone with my T-Mo monthly service SIM and have been using it with no problem.
I'm hoping things will work in a similar fashion with this deal... if unlocking is successful.
I go to ATT from dealdigs link and add it to my cart.
It asks me to add a plan for it before I can check out. Which should I choose?
Thanks.
If you expect to talk more than 7 minutes on the days you use the phone or call other folks on the ATT network, go for the $1 per day + $.10 per minute + unlimited ATT. Otherwise choose the $.25 per minute plan.

Maybe a dumb question: can I order multiple phones in one order, say 2, to get the 2*$20 DealDigs rebate, or do I need to place separate orders? Thanks.

Would be good gifts.. Thanks OP.
Frequent Asked Questions
1. How long does it take for the DealDigs Cash Back to show up in my DealDigs account?
It usually takes one or two days for the merchant to report your order to DealDigs.com. Once your order is reported, the DealDigs Cash Back will be credited to your account automatically.
2. If I purchase two phones on two separate orders, will I get a $29.99 rebate for each order?
Yes. The DealDigs Cash Back for AT&T Wireless is $29.99 per order. So, if you want to buy two phones and get two $29.99 Cash Back, you MUST place two orders individually. If you buy more than one phone in an order, you can only get one $29.99 Cash Back.
In order to get the $29.99 Cash Back for each order, you must come back to this page every time when you place a new order and click on the Click Here to Buy link again .
3. Is there a DealDigs Cash Back rebate limit per person/household?
No. There is no limit on how many phones you can buy and how much Cash Back you can earn from DealDigs. As long as your order gets through from AT&T, you will get the $29.99 DealDigs Cash Back. However, the merchant (AT&T) might have a limit on how many phones you can buy. According to other buyers, you can buy three phones per address.

How to get $20 rebate from AT&T? Should the phone be activated and in use?

How would DD know baout our order? Do I need to enter the order details of this phone bought from ATT site?
You register at dealdigs, and go thru THEIR link to the AT&T phone. Deal Diggs will automatically track your order for the $20. You can choose to have them send your a check or via paypal, depending on what preferences you setup on your dealdigs account.
When you get your confirmation email from AT&T, there will be a link to the additional rebate.
You fill out the rebate form, attach a confirmation of the email with the phone circled, and attach the imei code flap off the box, and send it in to AT&T to get the additional rebate.
