Most importantly, the title!

IE: Meritline IDE 2.5" USB 2.0 Aluminum HDD External Enclosure, Black, 6.99 Shipped

Price added. Sorry I missed it because the number of characters in the title exceeded the number of characters allowed

Not sure why all the red. Picked one up to use with an old 20GB I just found.

it was in red zone because I missed the price in title

Red, for a useless product, if it can't even support 48-bit LBA, which has been a standard feature for the past few years at least.

Lot's of people have older IDE notebook drives of smaller sizes. These work good for those drives. When you buy a $6.99 enclosure, you aren't buying it first and then finding a drive. That would be pathetic. Instead you have an old drive lying around - it happens - and want some kind of enclosure to make the drive useful again. Come to think of it, I have a perfectly fine 40GB drive sitting in a broken notebook. For $6.99 I can give my niece a nice little backup drive. Good deal.

good deal... i was hoping for a 3.5" at that price too

Quick question, I wanted to double check before I buy. My Powerbook has a ATA-6 harddrive, and I was under the impression that the 2 kinds were ATA and SATA and that ATA and IDE were compatible.

My question is can anyone confirm that ATA and IDE are compatible and that my Powerbook harddrive will work in this enclosure. thanks a million!

Only 120gb support?
Ill pass

only a good deal if you have a old hd lying around. green for op!!

went ahead and bought it, thanks OP!

got 1 for myself too. Thanks OP!

In For One...Thanks OP...Green for you

SATA version is also available for the same price. This one supports up to 160Gb laptop drives.

I just took a quick look around at Shop4tech and Meritline for an "inexpensive" up to 12.0mm height 2.5" IDE/USB enclosure - NG. I guess those enclosures are now "ancient history"...

P.S. I *STILL* use a Toshiba 550CDT laptop (w/4GB 2.5" 12.0mm IDE HDD) daily for "surfing". Who would have thought that 4GB be eventually available in FLASH/SD?!?

anyone have any leads on a 3.5 enclosure

thanks, I got my SATA version today. It works, but quality is real bad, compared to the one I bought in China 2 months ago for similar price, this is pretty junk.

This is my 1st order on Meritline, and might be the last also.
