Just got back from my BB Mobile store. They were willing to give me the 20%, but couldn't get my SERO account to transfer over. Is there a trick to this? How are people getting this done? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Is this written in policy or on the web somewhere?
How do you explain the dozens of folks here, at PPCGeeks, and SD that claim they have purchased the phones and were able to keep the same plans they were on? I know some have reported that they are unable to keep the same plans, but many have reported that they have successfully done so. Are you saying that they have now unknowingly switched to a different plan, and have lost their SERO, retention, or other grandfathered plan?Well, I don't know how they did it. Everytime I've called Sprint to add the Instinct phone to my acct they were never able to do it due to the requirement. I'm also aware and have even mentioned to the rep that some people were able to get the phone without changing their plans. I'm glad to be wrong if that is the case 'cuz I have the Diamond and would like to switch to the Pro myself. But I think some of you were able to get it through a 3rd party retailer that perhaps had a loophole or glitch. At this point, I don't know how some people are able to get it while others can't. But that is the requirement. |

Yes, even if you currently have unlimited data as part of your plan or add-on, it will not work. Believe me, I have tried. There are two levels of data service: basic unlimited data, with which most of us are familiar, and then there's data premier. Data premier includes/covers GPS nav, some Sprint tv premium channels, and an enhanced VM system, all of which are not available and/or would cost extra by themselves even with "unlimited data".
With the introduction of the iPhone w/ATT, the Instinct thru Sprint, and now the Touch Pro, the carriers are requiring upgraded service plans in order to 1) recoup their costs & 2) allow you to use all the features the phones are capable of w/o you hustling them later for a refund for "accidental usage". Anyway, as Sprint CEO Hesse pointed out, "it's hard to believe it's still called a phone when it can do so much more."
Because the iPhone & Instinct have proven to be successful despite the higher cost data plan requirements, they are going to continue this business model for certain phones. Sadly, the Touch Pro is one of them.
(If you don't need the add'l features in the Pro, you can get the Diamond, which is a very capable smartphone in and of itself and does not have the data plan requirement. I typed this whole message using it.)
This did not happen for me. I went in and gave them my number, coupon, etc...he went through the process and mentioned midway through that I would have to add a $25 data plan...I said that my current plan already has unlimited data and that I was in no way interested in changing it. Another guy came over and eventually he says "see if it will through without it", and it did. So in short, I think it tells them that they have to add the data charges, but the system doesn't have a hard block to in fact enforce it. Got mine after being in the store for about 45 minutes total with little trouble for under $260 with tax. Lovin it.
After reading the previous comment...let me add that I have a copy of the contract right in front of me that says $30 a month and lists the plan details. My plan is unchanged.Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. I think if anyone is interested in getting one, your best chances are to get it before Nov 2 (the earlier the better), when it will be officially available through Sprint stores and sprintdotcom. There may be some glitches in the provisioning process that allows it to go through at the national retail chain if you're lucky. |

Cool phone and a good deal. Just too bad it is on Sprint. I have heard nothing but bad stuff about Sprint. Maybe you should head to T-Mobile and get the Google G1 for $180. |

BINGO. Got 2 of them (myself and my wife). $299 - 20% discount and no problems at all keeping my $30 SERO plan. I was only 1 year into my SERO. Amazingly the BB mobile lady was awesome, and knew exactly what she was doing. Whole process took just 30 minutes. The only minor issue was getting the 20%, they had to charge me full price ($665 with tax for both phones), then handed me $130 in Cash Back. NO crap about the data plan, NO forcing me onto the new everything SERO and no issues with only being 1 year into the contract. |

I just got back from BB with my new Touch Pro... Thanks for the find on the 20% off. I was going to buy it anyway, and you just saved me $60. Thanks. I had the same issue.. the system wouldn't take the 20% coupon, so they charged me full price and then did a price match adjustment to return the difference. |

I am on SERO 500, went into BB in Battle Creek, MI. First, after they typed my number in the system, it would not allow them to do anything more. He called the Sprint number and he was told I can only get a phone through employee telesales because of the plan I was on. I left the store, spent an hour on the phone with Sprint Customer care and finally talked to a really nice lady who noted my account to tell Best Buy to sell me the phone as an upgrade. I walked back in the store, told the same sales guy I spoke to earlier to call and get it ok'ed. He did and I walked out with my new Touch Pro. No questions regarding data and my phone accesses the internet just fine. Good luck everyone and thanks OP. |

I, too, just returned from BB. At first, they didn't even know they had the phone but eventually found it. Bought as an upgrade - signed the 2 year plan - got the 20% discount. My service plan (not SERO) remained unchanged including the $10 unlimited vision pack (which is so old no one even knew what it was). Thanks, OP, for saving me the 20%! BTW, their computer showed these phones at $749.99 without the 2 year plan. |

Just called all Best Buy stores near Philadelphia and all but one said they didn't carry Sprint phones. Only the Best Buy Mobile store inside Moorestown Mall (400 Route 38; Moorestown, NJ 08057) carries Sprint but they are already sold out. Someone on ppcgeeks said he got his there and they just had a handful. |

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL.... =) |

Just a warning. If you were thinking of doing the Everything Plus Plan as seen here, do not sign up with a normal plan and then try to switch. I'm having to go to a store, cancel my plan, then call customer service and sign up again. They say it is only for new activations (1 hour old activations aren't new enough apparently). |

Ignore that link, BestBuy didn't care that I was only one year into my SERO, and I still got their full upgrade price. I'm sure that the price on Sprint.com will be much higher when it appears next week. |

Just picked it up. Chicagoans: go to the South Loop Best Buy on Roosevelt and see Lucas in BB Mobile. He's the manager of the mobile section. He knows the drill about 20% off and not touching any of the plan details in the upgrade. He just got me set up very quickly. The only issue I had is that my ppc6700 didn't want to transfer the phonebook contacts over. |

Chicagoans in the Western Suburbs; I purchased my phone last night from the Best Buy in Downer's Grove; ask for Dave or Val and they will be happy to take care of you. Got the phone, with the 20 percent discount, without hassle. I also had a problem with transferring my data to the new phone. So, after 4 and a half hours, countless Chappele Show reminscent moments, and 3 Bottles of Sprite, I emerged victorious.(Except for the fact that I still cannot transfer my Contacts data...uggh!) Wasn't their fault for the long wait, and they were wonderful to hang around with. Happy Hunting, the phone is AWESOME!! Bigriggy63
