Check inventory at your local BB here

a few notes....

-be sure to print out a copy of the coupon (login required) and bring it to the store with your rewardzone membership card. people who didn't print the offer were not given the discount.
-get triple rewardzone points on your purchase (you're using your card anyways for the 20% off).
-if you are a current sprint subscriber that has SERO, your line may not be upgradeable by best buy. they use the SNAP online system to upgrade sprint lines - they can also call in the activation, but in my case sprint said that i cannot upgrade anywhere other than a sprint store (i do have a corporate discount on my account, that may be why). call sprint retentions and tell them to place a note on your account saying that you have permission to upgrade at bestbuy. BB should then be able to call in your activation (SNAP will still not work).
-if you are a current sprint subscriber out of your 2-year agreement that will be re-signing with the purchase of the phone, sprint will offer you either 10% off your monthly bill or a $75 statement credit to renew your 2-year agreeement. call or write to e-care and ask for that deal; this will not change your eligibility to receive a phone at the 2-year upgrade price.

Thanks for the heads up. So sero users are sol?

SanDiegoDude said: Thanks for the heads up. So sero users are sol?
possibly. however, i do have a 10% corporate discount stacked on top of my SERO plan that classifies my account as a business account, so that could be the reason. if you live near a BB it's definitely worth a shot; 20% is very nice.

Some folks have been successful at activating their SERO/Touch Pro super deal at Best Buy.
Check out the SprintUsers thread.

I'm sooooooo tempted!

p.s. Existing SERO, that is.

I'm still under contract with Sprint for SERO, can I still get this for this price?

You can upgrade your contract and buy the phone at any BestBuy or Best Buy Mobile stores with the SERO contract. They can use the SNAP system (which will be changed shortly to something else) and upgrade you and when the system asks the employee if the "service features" should be changed they just need to say no. If at all fails, the manual call in activations work just fine as well to keep the SERO contract as is. (Just informed the employee you have an old service agreement that you would like to keep as is) As for corporate discount, this shouldn't matter either if the upgrade is called in, since there would be no change to the initial contract.

I am posting this from my Pro... It is awsome!

The BB 20% coupon link doesn't work. Could anyone pls provide a valid one? Thanks!

I wonder if we have to go to simply unlimited plans? As far as I know (from skimming through the spring user forum) it seems like you don't.

I just bought my HTC Mogul few months ago. What's main advantage that Touch Pro has over Mogul? Is that worth a upgrade?

will this work on verizon?

SD has it on the OP post there. I would link it, but am not sure what the FW mods would think of linking an SD pdf to FW....

And no, I am not trying to be an SD (or even FW) fanboy. I am an equal opportunity deal whore that takes the best of what the internet has to offer, and owe allegiance to getting Hot Deals only.

Here's what coupon says:

It sounds like existing customers can get this offer if they re-up their contract. I am eligible for my new equipment rebate and and I can re-up my contract I think I'm gonna give it a try. I might even call customer service and see if they will match it. It's worth a try... I will report back my results. Best of luck to all others.

Customer Service says street date is Nov 2nd. I am getting bright and early in the morning to do early voting and now stop by Worst Try.

Thanks SirRadiodude!
"Service available in New Jersey." means not available in other states?

Green because I want one even though I don't think I'm going to buy one quite yet but 20% off is quite tempting and I could use a line just dedicated to tethering and put my treo800 on it with wmwifirouter...

(saved all the periods until the end)

Wait...so if I have an existing SERO line out of contract, I just walk in and can upgrade to the touch pro for $299 (or $240 with this coupon)? Certainly worth a shot. It's time to put to Mogul on eBay.

Edit: Apparently I can

can somebody post the coupon please?

pcgamerdude said: can somebody post the coupon please?

Just get it from silckdeals. Mods: if you're wondering how to increase the traffic at the site............

Been drinking, eh?

There appears to be a data plan requirement for the phone, like is for the Instinct. They are trying to switch everyone over to the new Everything plans.

can anyone tell me where the 20% off coupon is? also i last upgrade my phone aug last yr. how much would i have to pay?

also i have sero right now... nothing will change with that right? thanks for the reply....

just the termination fee and 239.99

LightWallet said: There appears to be a data plan requirement for the phone, like is for the Instinct. They are trying to switch everyone over to the new Everything plans.

Where are getting that info from?

after 3 years with same phone $49 for an upgrade to the latest model, maybe. $240... Not!

LightWallet said: There appears to be a data plan requirement for the phone, like is for the Instinct.

There has been a data plan requirement for Smart Phones for a while now. I had a 6700 (the precursor to the Mogul) and they made me get a data plan. You don't have to get the everything plan though.

And no, I hadn't been drinking...I don't drink actually. I just typed what I was thinking, then looked at it and realized it was a run-on sentence.

My biggest concern is that buying it from Best Buy and adding a line onto my plan, they will somehow screw up my plan (which like anyone else who has been on Sprint for more than two years has multiple discounts, freebies, etc).

If I bought a Diamond through retentions less than a month ago can I send it back in to get my money back and get this instead?

How much is the Data plan in addition to the $35 Sero plan that I have now? I can access the internet with my current phone without a data plan, but I can't with this one?

See if this works:

https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/offerDetails.jspx?offerCode=3012

I have the same concern. I currently have a plan just like Simply everything plan - 1100 anytime minutes, free power vision, unlimited text message.... for just $50 a month(2 lines). Also, I have a 25% corporate discount on it. Just don't want Worestbuy to screw up my plan.

Just tried it at a BB near me. (I am on SERO 500) They had the phone and were willing to let me buy it($299 w/ 2 year contract) but once we got to the plan options, data section, it was clicked at EDVO-casual I believe. The rep said I'd be charged per kb i downloaded and stuff. I tried to tell him that I had a grandfathered plan that gave me unlimited internet access but he said that it was too old of a data pack for the nex-gen phones and that I'd have to upgrade. He called his rep and basically he said the same thing. Needless to say I said F-no and left. Anyone else have similar problems?

it looks like this is the issue that people with SERO (including myself) are having. i'm pretty sure i'm going to put my SERO plan into my prenuptuial; there's no way i'm going to let worstbuy mess it up just to save a few bucks and get the phone a few days earlier. you can preorder the phone now through EVP (evpdiscount.com) and they're willing to negotiate pricing - just don't give them your payment information right away. so far i have them offering me $75 off.

everyone has sero can buy the phone seperately from bestbuy with a new number. and then you can call sprint to say you do not like phone blabla.. i have a friend want it. then port it to your sero number which is out of contract. but i think for several $ to risk your plan not worth. i will wait for sprint website.

Just got back from Bestbuy with my new Touch Pro. Did the upgrade without any problems. I am a SERO customer

Use this link to see whether you're eligible for an upgrade

Not sure you guys are getting the point. It doesn't matter where you buy the phone. In order to activate it, you will be required to switch to one of 5 all-inclusive type plans: the Everything plan or one of the talk/msg/data shared plans. There's no way around it. They are trying to ween everyone over to the new plans.

Yes, even if you currently have unlimited data as part of your plan or add-on, it will not work. Believe me, I have tried. There are two levels of data service: basic unlimited data, with which most of us are familiar, and then there's data premier. Data premier includes/covers GPS nav, some Sprint tv premium channels, and an enhanced VM system, all of which are not available and/or would cost extra by themselves even with "unlimited data".

With the introduction of the iPhone w/ATT, the Instinct thru Sprint, and now the Touch Pro, the carriers are requiring upgraded service plans in order to 1) recoup their costs & 2) allow you to use all the features the phones are capable of w/o you hustling them later for a refund for "accidental usage". Anyway, as Sprint CEO Hesse pointed out, "it's hard to believe it's still called a phone when it can do so much more."

Because the iPhone & Instinct have proven to be successful despite the higher cost data plan requirements, they are going to continue this business model for certain phones. Sadly, the Touch Pro is one of them.

(If you don't need the add'l features in the Pro, you can get the Diamond, which is a very capable smartphone in and of itself and does not have the data plan requirement. I typed this whole message using it.)

Is this written in policy or on the web somewhere?

How do you explain the dozens of folks here, at PPCGeeks, and SD that claim they have purchased the phones and were able to keep the same plans they were on? I know some have reported that they are unable to keep the same plans, but many have reported that they have successfully done so. Are you saying that they have now unknowingly switched to a different plan, and have lost their SERO, retention, or other grandfathered plan?

This did not happen for me. I went in and gave them my number, coupon, etc...he went through the process and mentioned midway through that I would have to add a $25 data plan...I said that my current plan already has unlimited data and that I was in no way interested in changing it. Another guy came over and eventually he says "see if it will through without it", and it did. So in short, I think it tells them that they have to add the data charges, but the system doesn't have a hard block to in fact enforce it. Got mine after being in the store for about 45 minutes total with little trouble for under $260 with tax. Lovin it.

After reading the previous comment...let me add that I have a copy of the contract right in front of me that says $30 a month and lists the plan details. My plan is unchanged.

Do US GSM carriers do voice / data at the same time? I have a tmobile shadow and also used an ATT fuze (touch pro) for a while and was not able to do both at the same time in either case.

rigor said: gsm phones have two modems, and usually have bigger batteries.

cdma drops to 1xRTT when you call someone.

GSM phones can rock full data and voice at once. This eats up ALOT more power if you choose to do so.

almost every HTC phones that is in GSM flavor with 3G has a much bigger battery.
