First it is a big YMMV. A local Toys R Us store had a Family Video Game day today. Long story short, I called and was told it ran until 5:00 PM. I got to the store at 4:25 PM and they were packing up all the equiptment. The representative told me that it only ran until 4:00 PM.

He asked what I was interested in trying out. I said the Wii for my 4 year old. He did not set it back up, but said I could have the Demo unit for $199.00. What he told me was that these were new units that morning (Wii Sports), they unpacked 2 units for people to try out, and they were run from 11:00 am to 4:00 PM. He also mentioned that due to the rain, roughly 60 people showed up for the event all day. I thought $199.00 was a good deal since the GameStop units used are that much. The cashier even took my $10.00 off $75.00 coupon which isnt't valid until tomorrow.

Got the system home and see that they left the game in it that they were using. Horrible game called DeBlob but my daughter liked it.

So if this is a national event, you may want to linger around after the demo is over and scoop up the demo system itself. I only wish it was a PS3

You post this crap long after all stores have closed all over the US? What was the point?
Perhaps you haven't located the Brag and Moan section. That is the only place for this type of post.

This is the kind of post that causes people like myself to lurk rather than participate.

Do you work at Toys R Us? I know I don't. Do you know if this is an event that is held exclusively on this day nationwide? I know I don't. Point being, if this event occurs in someone else's area on another day, I wanted to get the word out. I am sorry if my post offended you in anyway but your attack on me is unwarranted and unapreciated.

This deal is obviously worse than BIG YMMV. Each TRU that did this obviously used 1 or 2 wii's max so very few people will be able to get one. On top of that, they might not sell them at a discount or sell them at all.

Good deal for the OP, but not worth posting on FW.

While I agree I probably wouldn't have posted this on the forums (just due to the lack of opportunity) I also think you people need to ease up and not get your panties in a bunch about his post. It would be simpler to have just let the deal prove itself cold and die but now you have several of us replying to the thread (myself included). If the deals not for you and you don't have something to contribute then move on. Not responding would have explained more in a gentler way than being a inconsiderate would have.

Thanks for sharing this utterly useless info at 11:47 PM.

Thanks for reading the post in its entirety. I stand by the fact that this is event may occur elsewhere on a different day and someone could score a Wii (or whatever system they are showing). I am sorry that a few members think that this was "useless". I wasn't aware that a post must contain an item that would be available for each and every member. I feel that if just one other person could get one, then it is a success. Next time I will just keep to myself. Back to lurking.

Based on the quality of this "deal", it would probably be better for everyone if you continued to lurk

I don't think that insulting someone who took the time to post a deal is helpful here. I appreciate the time the OP took to type this up, and the fact he thought of the fatwallet community. Giving a red is one thing, making it personal is another. I know you put a smiley after what you said. But tacking a smiley onto an insult doesn't mean it isn't an insult any more.

I think it was worth posting. A lot of deals here are very YMMV, or very fleeting - for an hour or two. This post was very clear on how to get this deal - and said YMMV right in the title.

If someone else thought it wasn't a hot deal, then a response such as "not hot - no details about when or if 'family video game day' will occur at other TRU stores would be fine. Or just a red without comment.
