the acura gets 83 mpg. go get one!

It doesn't surprise me as no one is buying many cars right now and also they have changed this model for 09 its ugly to me in the front the 08 models are better looking.Looks like a good deal for those looking at this model.

I like japanese cars a lot I have 2 of them and acura makes a nice vehicle but they make some that get better gas mileage than this.

Ummm, are you serious? TL gets about 28 highway, max.

My 2002 TL (stock with 156k miles) gets 31MPG consistently per tankful, with mixed driving. [on highway road trips I can get 34MPG, and I can guarantee this moron SDpwnsFW will never get 38+ in real world driving

And after driving all those miles in a TL, I certainly appreciate a quiet, comfortable, smooth ride when comparing it to many of the other Jap or American cars I driven.
That's where you're wrong. I never get below 38 mpg. I maxed at 39.6, haven't hit 40 yet. Your real world driving and mine are obviously different. I don't get off by tailgating people and slamming the gas to the floor to gain an extra car length. I don't race to a red light and slam on the brakes. I don't drag when the light turns green. I guess you can say I'm a safe easygoing driver thus allowing my car to obtain a high mpg than advertised. nuff said

Your real world driving is like this:
You can't tailgate people, because they are all faster than you.
You can't slam on the gas because doing so is no different than if you went gently on the gas, because the corolla is a lethargic piece of poo
You can't race at a red light, because your car can't race
You can't slam on the brakes because you can't get up to speed by the time it is time to brake.
You don't drag when the light turns green because your car is incapable of this action, and no one on the road gives you a second look

You obviously are utilitarian in nature and don't enjoy the nicer things.
The TL is a very nice car, with very nice luxuries. It is also bigger than a corolla if ever need to car lots of stuff in the back.

Coming in here and making comments like you did opened up this flaming...but then again, you probably already knew that.

There you go, America, spend 32k on small car! Keep it up!

I got Sonata for 16k OTD few months back, may be cheaper right now. Spend America Spend, finally come to the TV show and tell Suzi "yea I made some bad financial decision", Why don't tell suzi that "Suzi my skill set and education provide me job with 30k, but I have to have BMW, or GM truck with 500k house which I can not afford", so I borrowed (or you can say Rob another taxpayer), to full fill my American dream!

Don't worry, my fellow American you spend, I am here to take care of your Mortgage, because I am living in apt with 3 Hyundai where I can effort decent house with at least Acura TL

PS

OP, No offense to you at all, this is General post.

Last week sometime, a member posted a very vague thread about a clearance deal on 2008 Acura TLs. It was subsequently closed and moved to the black hole of FW. Well, I am going to continue where this member left off.

Do you browse SD too? There a thread about the TL in SD, maybe you were thinking about that. 2 people said they got the TL-S for $27.5K and $28K OTD, but I think it's BS.

Dude this is not BS....my friend got one in DFW area for 29K OTD. Dealer is McDavid Acura.

Can someone post some real otd prices rather than talk what's nice or ugly, great or bad on gas, look cool or doesn't, fit your whole village inside or not, can we stay on topic here, some of us a very interested in getting a good deal. I tried to get the base tl, and the lowest I managed to get was 27500 plus tax and TTL (34k msrp). If I could get a type S for the same price, that would be phenomenal.

Its BS!! You CANNOT get a brand new 2008 Typs S for that price OTD!! Tell your "friend" to show you the paperwork. He/She is lying to you.

Yeah, to get 29K OTD in TX, the selling price should be around 26K + TTL, that's 13K under sticker ($38,985).

Tell your friend to call the salesperson at McDavid Acura in DFW to give me that same deal and I will be there this saturday with a pre-approval to buy another one. I'm in Houston, I don't mind driving 4 hours to to Dallas to get this deal. I can't even get that deal at McDavid Houston.

Either your friend is BS'ing, or you are.

They don't have any S left, just 2 stock TL.

Well, if they are selling Type S for that low, regular ones should be $25K OTD then. After Machintos takes one. i'll take the other for that price!

Type S?? That's BS! No way can those be that cheap.

Not BS. True. They have to make room for the 2009 models.

I'm sorry, I can't buy it. The MSRP for a Type-S is 38.9K. The dealer would be taking a substantial loss to take a deal like that.

If you can prove me wrong, please do. I'd love to see a deal like that!

I believe it. The 2009 model's have a different body style. Prices always drop significantly on an old body style. The economy sucks. Borrowing power is down. Acura is probably giving the dealer an incentive on the back end for every 2008 they move. The dealer drops the lease on the vehicle, everyone is happy.

I know this is not apples to apples but compare a used 2003 TL to a 2004 TL. The price difference is about $7,000 to $10,000
