Last week sometime, a member posted a very vague thread about a clearance deal on 2008 Acura TLs. It was subsequently closed and moved to the black hole of FW. Well, I am going to continue where this member left off.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find 2008 Acura TLs dirt cheap. Currently, here are the special offers from Acura:

- $3500 Cash Rebate for any new 2008 Acura TL
- .9% financing for up to 36 months or 2.9% financing for up to 60 months

Pair this with abysmal car sales, and you can get yourself a sweet deal!

Here's the breakdown and this is what I'm purchasing:

- 2008 Acura TL with Navigation

MSRP Price with Destination: $36985
Invoice: $34043

Price I'm getting it for: $30K plus TTL, which I've negotiated a price of $32.5K OTD.

I'm getting this at the Jacksonville Acura dealer, they have quite a few 08 TLs left. I've been shopping around other dealers here in the SouthEast and the lowest price I've gotten was Columbus, GA Acura with a price of 29.9K plus TTL. They just didn't have my color configuration I wanted.

Keep in mind, there's two other choices on the TL:

- 2008 Acura TL Base (No Nav) - Someone can get this DIRT CHEAP. I haven't seen what kind of prices I can get but majority of the TLs out there are the Base model.
- 2008 Acura TL Type-S - This has the bigger engine, a little different interior, etc. More of a sportier model. The wife didn't like it or I would be getting this. There's not many of these out there, but deals still can be had. I've negotiated one down to $32.5K plus TTL at Macon, GA Acura.

I've also been following this thread on Edmunds Car Space where people are getting prices in California for 29K plus TTL for a 08 TL with Navi.

Edmunds Car Space Thread

Hopefully other people can take advantage of this for a great car, I'm stoked about getting one myself!

Edit: Here's what I picked up last night. Text

Do you browse SD too? There a thread about the TL in SD, maybe you were thinking about that. 2 people said they got the TL-S for $27.5K and $28K OTD, but I think it's BS.

Type S?? That's BS! No way can those be that cheap.

So just doing the numbers on that, let's say sales tax is at 6% (which is Florida's state rate, county may be different). Plus other fees like licensing, lemon law, etc. you are around $2k. So that would mean a dealer would of sold a TL-S for around $26K.

Sorry, I can't buy that. Maybe for a used one or a base model, but not for a brand new TL-S. There's only a handful left here in the SouthEast, and there's no way a dealer would take that much of a loss.

Not BS. True. They have to make room for the 2009 models.

While I agree that ~30k OTD is a fantastic price on a brand new TL, type S, or otherwise. You should take into account that Acura went through a substantial redesign for the 09 TL - the 4th generation of the model, which will substantially knock down the resale for the 3rd gen a few years down the road. For example do a search on your local CL or a popular auction site and take a look at the difference in price between the 03 TL (last year of the 2nd gen) and the 04 TL. Both had similar MSRPs when new, but the relative difference in listed prices are staggering. But if you're getting a TL for the long haul, there are few that can compete with the car or the deal. I've got a 1st gen TL that's 230k miles strong and I might be ready to give it up for a sweet deal on an 08.

Its BS. We are talking about the Type S and not the basic model. Even $26K before taxes and fees is impossible.

I'm sorry, I can't buy it. The MSRP for a Type-S is 38.9K. The dealer would be taking a substantial loss to take a deal like that.

If you can prove me wrong, please do. I'd love to see a deal like that!

Nice!

I got one almost exactly 2 years ago for 30 even and that was without navigation!

A great car for the money. And even though it takes premium gas, even that seems like a bargain lately...

i got the type s tl out the door 4 months ago for 33k in south coast acura

i love my car.... too bad I live in Irvine Cali and everyone drives nicer cars but for a student i think im balling

hows the gas mileage on these things? If it's not 38+, im not interested. My corolla gets over 38 mpg. If the acura gets above that, i'll go pick one up this afternoon.

The 4th generation is so fugly though -- I doubt people's interest in the 2004-2008 models will wain over the next 2-3 years.

Ummm, are you serious? TL gets about 28 highway, max.

wow. um... wow.

it's comparing apples and oranges... mpg is not the TL's strong suit. but it wins out in so many other ways. i really hope ur kidding with this comment.

What else would I want a 2 wheel drive car for? If it's not getting great gas mileage, whats the point? Is a smooth ride and extra performance worth an extra $10k? Besides looks and performance, what can this car offer me that I'm not already getting from my corolla? The acura isn't exactly a veyron.

Not BS. One of my co-workers just bought a 08 type TL-S for $28k.

That is your preference. Other people have theirs. Can't you accept the fact that some people could care less about getting 38MPG out of their cars? I don't know why you are trying so hard to prove that your Corolla is superior because it gets 38MPG, but it seems to me that you are trying to rationalize that your car is better than a luxury vehicle so you can feel better about your economy car purchase.

almost two years ago I got brand new tln for $30,300 +ttl and dealer shared (not voluntary ) his hold back money with me - this sounds like a better deal - good luck!

What does TTL stand for?

No i wasn't kidding. And yes i have bought a new car before.... about 4 years ago I bought a new Honda Accord EX V6. But I don't recall using such terms we would simply use OTD or the Out The Door price aka the total price paid for the car to have the right to drive it out end of story.

Now if they only had back seats that could fold down, I buy one

Also, JUST a FYI: if you want to check what people paid for cars and leases, hit edmonds.com, then click forums, Make, then Model...

The static thread is:
Buyer and paid exp or Lease questions

This is a Great forum with feedback from users like you, so if you bought a car, post what you paid, if your looking to buy or lease check the forums, save me a ton of cash last time and give you a real idea what to pay.

Redesigns are not always good. Take for instance the '03 Maxima and the '04 Maxima. Which one would you rather have? The '03 of course, the '04 (Gen 6) redesign is ugly as hell. Today, the '03 Maxima (Gen 5) commands top dollar. The '09 redesign, however, is a big improvement but still IMO doesn't have the appeal of the Gen 5. I think wraparound headlights and taillights (especially on that new Altima) is about as interesting as Richard Simmons' striped shorts. (which isn't interesting at all)

Let's just hope Honda doesn't redesign anything to look like their disastrous Accord. I was sitting next to a Accord Coupe the other day thinking about how g*ddam ugly it is, and how I would be ashamed to own an Accord or any car that looks like one.

A chance at some p-tang because it doesn't seem like you have anything else going for you.

Sorry but if this deal is not for you, stop $h!tting in this thread and move on. A $7k discount is huge for those that are considering a new car.

Its about preference... some people may want to save their money or whom can not afford a $30k car would be happy with a corolla. I had a corolla when I was in highschool, great car.

But then other people who like things like a smoother ride, better interior, bigger car such as the Acura TL. The Acura TL comes with leather, Moonroof, Xenon headlights, 6 CD changer and much bigger engine. For some people 10k for all of that is worth it.

But hey to each there own. There is a reason why the corolla is one of the best selling cars in america, because there are alot of people who can only afford a $15k-$20k car or thats just how much they are willing to spend.

Most ppl around me(I live in OC, CA) love the way new accord looks. Even my youngest sister who has great sense of fashion loves it more than any other car design. But then again I said the same thing u guys said about 2000 Civic. It ended up selling well. oh well, We will see how many accord gets sold for new model.

Back to topic: Great Price on TL! My mom got a 2003 TL after driving a 2006 Corolla. She loves it and will never go back to Corolla. So much easier to pick up kids. So much smoother and easier to drive. Definitely worth the extra gas for her.

He11 of a deal. 2009 is the ugliest design on these Acuras that I have ever seen. Current Accord or Camry look much better. BTW I am an Acura fan (will skip 09 though).

I totally agree with your taste. I'm glad I bought the 07 model $30k +ttl a year ago.

saw the brand new 2009 TL in the showroom for the first time and loved it. did not at first after looking at photos online, but the actual car is a beauty.

the "start the engine" button is a nice touch too (finally catching up to Lexus on this).
