Hey...I appreciate the effort, and if you got one, good for you! Nonetheless, if not a single other person can get it on it, the deal should get red. That's the way the forum works. Say "thanks" in appreciation, but vote based on the deal's hotness and availability.
I'm typing on this computer right now. Got if for $250 from BB about 7-8 months ago. With another 1GB chip its okay.

Bought this last year two weeks before Black Friday for $299, but received $50 back due to them misprinting that it had a dvdr which it does not.
Regardless of what some might say this laptop, with 2gig ram, does what MANY will use it for. I mainly use it at the office for presentations, but it will comfortably run Office 2k7, CS3, FF, Chrome, or IE7 with 20 plus tabs open. No its not my main machine, nor would it be any good at gaming, but I have been very pleased with it. I might buy another one.
There is a thread on FW here somewhere or on SD with links to XP drivers.
Celeron M is fine for the vast majority of laptop users, especially given the price range. Vista is a bad choice, you might be able to contact Gateway for XP downgrade media. If not free, just install XP from various sources on the net
But seriously, Microsoft policy is that if a system ships with a Vista CoA, XP is "included". M$ gets paid either way.
N/A in 78758 area. Green for OP anyway

It runs just fine on Vista and it is not as bad as everyone claims it to be, IMHO. If you upgrade to 2gig of ram and if you know how to turn some of the stupid stuff off and tweak it just a bit there isn't really any good reason to go through the hassle. I was going to install XP immediately due to the prejudice I shared with so many others but decided to play around with it for a bit since I support friends and family members who were starting to ask questions about Vista.
FYI, you CANNOT merely install XP on to this machine. You need to use slip stream or some other techniques to get drivers on an XP disc. They purposely renamed hardware so that XP wouldn't recognize it. You had to find a model that had the same hardware that came with XP drivers and usually the hardware name was slightly changed. As I mentioned...do yourself a favor and go look for the previous threads on going backwards on this machine if you have that intention.

Awww, come on... OP can't control availability and cannot realisticly be expected to research inventory for the entire nation!

Just because it is out of stock in your area does not maken it a "red".

Who marks a deal red because it's OOS in their area? Quit being bitter about this; it's a good deal, and you know you can't get every deal you see on FW. Grow up and move on, quit whining about it. The thread says Limited Availability, the link shows the same thing. It was made clear from the start, so don't give OP red because you didn't read the post fully. Sheesh.

good enough for the new Intrepid; $243 + $30 for 2gig memory = $273 which beats any netbook (but quite heavier)

wow, this one is much better than that of OP with DVD writer, AMD64 cpu, 1gb of memory, 4gig of memory supported, nvidia graphic card (easier, I think, than Intel graphic card to set up a dual monitor in Ubuntu).
