SanDisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3 Player (Recertified) $48 shpped @ Newegg.com

Hmmm, not only a good price, but it also says it's covered by Newegg 'Standard' return policy which includes replacement if it fails within a year. A definite bonus when dealing with these Sandisk refurbs as I've heard many people mention them failing after a matter of months. Only thing is, anyone know if it's likely to be a v1 and rockbox-able, or a v2 instead?

I'm in for one. I can't pass it up with it being covered under the standard return policy.

I'll report back with the hardware version I receive.

With the reviews of the Sansa standard interface, I'm confident I'll be happy with it. If I can Rockbox it, that'll just be icing on the cake... But, I'll certainly post the details once I get my hands on it.

Don't believe this model can be Rockboxed. Froobi has this in stock.

But Buy.com has $49.99 SanDisk Sansa View 8GB USB with larger screen for far better MP4

I love Newegg. My order is already "Status: Shipped".

I think you have to pay shipping for the return with Newegg. I don't know why there are so many refurbished Sansa player. But e280 I ordered (not from Newegg) had defects. I am still waiting for the refund.

FYI. I had and returned the E280 from Costco last year. Too fragile and low video resolution. May I suggest the SanDisk Fuze 4GB at $68-$80 at a variety of vendors instead. Sometimes paying more gets you more.

Best I've seen. I paid more.

Most of the refurbished ones that I've heard of are v1. I have an v1 that I bought a couple of years back and have recently began using Rockbox and a 8GB, class 4 MicroSD card and its been working great!

darn.. too late to the game.. already sold out

Whoopie! Got my e280 today.

Version 01.02.18A
Memory 7634MB

Let me know if you have any questions about it.
