Please, somebody tell me if this is a deal or not.
I am so confused with which model is what. Its $75 cheaper than the lowest price on pricegrabber and $63 cheaper than the lowest on froogle.
I like the winxp, but dislike the 16gb ssd. Is there a better deal on an atom powered eee pc? Or is the celeron not so bad after all?

Thanks

I think the Atom processor is more desired and the 160G (non shock proof) hard drive is also more desirable, especially at that price.

This would be hot at $200. Atom-based mini laptops aren't that much more expensive than this one.

$20 shipping is also pretty steep, costs them no more than $8

Don't go near this model. You'll be sorry. It's so slow with the static drive. Go with the 900HA model with the 160 GB Hard Drive and 5 hour battery life. Just slightly heavier.

yes,it is a good idea

I compared both the Celeron and Atom-based EEE PCs and was told that the Celeron is actually faster then the Atom. That being said I would avoid this deal. When comparing the 900 and 1000 series you are looking at a difference of night-and-day. The keyboard on the 900 is a joke, it feels like you are using a toy. Compare the 1000-series and you quickly forget the "cuteness" of the 900. The keyboard is almost full size and it "feels" like a real machine vice the "toy" look and feel of the 900.

If you are buying a EEE PC consider the 1000 series with the Atom and the 160 GB HD with XP. It is not quite a laptop but a bit more than a Netbook and the best thing is ... it can be bought for just about the same price as the 900 series.

The 1000 series is also larger. If size matters and you're going small, go with the 900. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

This particular model (16 G 900) is terrible. The ssd is slow as snail and takes forever to install programs in windows xp.The ssd on my eeepc died in less than 3 months and it is sitting at Asus service center for two weeks now, they do not give me any proper answer. You have to ship this thing to them at your own expense.I really miss Dell service,They arrange pick up of defective unit same day and you get replacement next day.If you want same smaller size newer model 904HA might be better and you can buy it from Amazon for few dollars more buo 1000 series is much better performer.

I just bought the new 901 for $300.
