haroldminer said:Seems liks a good deal. I am more suprised there is such an active forum for flashlights. Yes and it is kind of amusing. I collect them by accident. I was not aware that people would post photos and review flashlights. Oh well, it's harmless. Thanks OP. Looks like a great deal. But like RAMs, flash drives, DVD burners, and whatever that I am already drowning in thanks to FW...I may have to pass on this one. |

yeah, the flashlight addiction. for me it started in middle school when i had to purchase one for a school camping trip... its kind of sad, i get really excited whenever the power grid shuts down just cause it gives me a chance to whip some fancy flashlights out.. |

I did indeed post this because of the high value, and to alert people that it exists. You can actually POINT to stars with this thing! (Like a light saber) People in the flashlight addiction (Yes, It's an addiction) pay hundreds for this kind of power. I do not work for Home Depot, nor do I own Husky or Home Depot stock. |

Lugs said:Flashlight forums? Now I've seen it all.. No, you haven't. They have insanely modified flashlights there. I have this light- bought it after I saw it on CandlepowerForums.com/vb - and let me tell you it is one bright light. I used to think my little 1.5 watt LED light was bright- it would light up my neighbors garage across the street. With this light I light up his garage, thru the windows, out the back door window, and then the back yard. It's so bright I can see leaves (and photograph them) clearly at trees that are probably 300-400 feet away. It's so bright my wife makes fun of me now for wanting another one |

What would be the effect on the brightness and the battery life of the light if I ran it off two AA nimh batteries in D cell adapters? Just wondering - that would be 2.4v instead of 3.0v |

I can't answer that question, but someone in the candlepower forums undoubtedly can. I put together a 3 shot slide show that shows beam shots one right after the other. You can download it here: My Three Shot Slideshow (Thanks Irfanview!) No worries, it's virus free. |

What's the passion with flashlights? I'm not thread crapping, I just want to try and understand the thrill I'm missing. Can someone explain this?? Is it like overclocking a CPU. No real world benefit but the trill in getting more output/$?? Is there something new that I've never seen before with these fancy flashlights?? |

Is it like overclocking a CPU. No real world benefit but the trill in getting more output/$?? Is there something new that I've never seen before with these fancy flashlights?? Dammed if I know what happened. I was just a normal guy in mid August. I obtained a Duracell Daylite 160 lumens flashlight, and the next thing I knew, I was obsessed with the damn things! I started seeking out everything I could that was flashlight related. When I saw the Husky 200 lumens version in a thread in candlepowerforums, with what are called beam shots, I felt compelled to compare it to my Daylite 160. It's a primitive instinct that kicks in or something. The newest generation of LED's are not your father's flashlights! You just can't begin to describe how good these things make you feel until you try one. But I digress... Any other flashaholics out there have a better grasp of what happened to them? |

Warning - last I heard, flashaholism (a.k.a. 'flashing') may get you arrested in 21 states. So just how soon will it be until I can just wire up an array of these emitters in and outside of my home for crazy amounts of illumination with insanely low power bills? Bring it on!

Can we call those that shine their high-power laser pointers at airplanes "extremists"? May I ask one of your flashlight gurus what are the best LED flashlights that run off AA batteries? The AA kind is always on sale at CC or BB like $10 for 24 of them. Now I am afraid in becoming a flashlight addict myself. |
