I'm pretty sure this just the regular price.
then why is this even posted if indeed this is reg. price, maybe op has stock in the company and is hoping for a good quarter results, it's not a hot deal. This made me chuckle. I'd hope if the OP's plan was for HD to have a good quarter he would try to pimp something that sells for more than $25. Anyway, I'm going to be swinging by HD to pick one of these up, I'm not a flashlight freak, but this looks like a good deal, the comparison shots on the forum sold me. I had no clue there was a forum for just flashlights?! I've seen it all now. Thanks OP. |

Thanks OP. yeah good forum, I been a member of candlepowerforums for 6 yrs and I bought this 4w a month ago. The 3w cree taskforce 2c is another nice torch - look for the 60x and XLamp on the packaging. I have several of these using the $10 off $25 or more at Lowes. |

another alternative to this light is the brinkman 2d in target. supposedly even "brighter" because of the deeper reflector. it has a variable output adjustable with a digital display. it's butt ugly too but doesn't look durable like the husky. edit: oops. $25 at target

OK, here is a practical use for these (actually more lumens) high powered devices: We use them for night cycling, primarily mountain biking. You can get the same power from spending about $100 as you would get from a $400 set of cycling-specific lights. I have a setup that produces 750+ lumens from one light on the handlebars for less than $60 including batteries and a charger. Then I spent another $40 for extra batteries (all rechargeable), mounts and a 300 lumen spot flashlight for my helmet. I suppose you can power a flashlight like this with D cells (for a while?) but it's definitely to heavy for cycling, so we use rechargeable lithium ions that can handle the required output without exploding. Unfortunately you have to deal direct from Hong Kong for these kinds or more powerful LED lights right now (but you get 2-3 times the power per dollar). I was happy to start seeing lights like these in HD and Lowe's because it mean getting them will soon be much easier. Often times it takes weeks if not months to get orders from HK. http://www.DealExtreme.com |

ironman69 said:Kinda addicted myself; no way to explain it I guess. Well, if your story is anything like mine, they start you off slow, like a free LED keychain light. "Go ahead, kid, just try it" they will say. You try it, you like it, and you find yourself weakening. Just one more LED light. "It won't hurt just to buy this AA" you find yourself saying. Then it's on to C, D, 123. You find yourself craving more and more power, more watts, multiple LED's. "This is the last one!" you say to yourself. But you know you are just lying to yourself. Soon your head is filled with terms like lumens, Cree, Nichia. You know now that it's too late - you can't stop.
Off to Home Depot. |

Which DealExtreme lights are you using for cycling? I've been poking around over there for a few days, trying to settle on bike lights...cleartrace said:We use them for night cycling, primarily mountain biking. Here ya go Here is the bar light: http://www.DealExtreme.com/details.dx/sku.16540 (This has the latest LED from CREE, the MC-E. You could get one with a P7 and still get very good performance, but supposedly the MC-E is more efficient.) onlycom said:After reading the reviews posted by OP, I actually prefer the beam pattern from Duracell Daylite 160. Any deal on that? The 160 lumen Duracell Daylight is my favorite for many reasons. Mostly, I like it for the floody, white, even light it outputs. It'll give decent light out to over 150 feet. I have not seen a better flood for the money in my experience. It goes everywhere with me (in my jacket pocket), because its only 5.75 inches and light weight. It can easily cause temporary blindness if you flash it in someone's face, but is easily hidden. Stealthy. It feels like a quality light costing much more, and doesn't look like a homemade marijuana pipe. It also has a lifetime guarantee. You don't need proof of purchase or a warranty card, just send it in and it will be either fixed or replaced. (Most likely replaced, since it's made in China like everything else.) Duracell is a name you can trust not to fold overnight, so the guarantee is iron clad. It's a patented technology that makes this flashlight "shine" in my opinion. A flashlight that provides high lumens does so at a cost; namely energy. The daylight allows the power of a much higher lumens light using only 160 lumens. It does this with a combination of reflector and special lens. So while it will never compare with the throw of the 200 lumens Husky, (my favorite "throw" light) It does a tremendous job of illuminating everything in the near vicinity with bright, white light, and the batteries last quite a long time. (Link to my beam comparisons at the top of the thread for visuals) The Daylight 160 will not be available in WalMart period. It will not be available before Christmas in any mass retailer (Target, Home Depot, Lowes). You can only get them right now in a couple of hardware stores (Ace, Blains Hardware), and on 5 or 6 websites on the net. www.acehardwareoutlet.com is still the cheapest I have seen them on-line. Amazon gets them periodically, but not often. So about the only "deal" you might find on this right now is free shipping, or maybe you can find an Ace coupon, or use a competitor's coupon at Ace. (Most Aces don't stock them yet [limited inventories], but will easily order one for you.) |

Husky is a house brand for Home Depot just like Task Force is a house brand for Lowes. I would say Task Force is an insult to the Lowes brand. Kobalt on the otherhand feels much nicer. |
