on black friday this tv will be down in the low 800's.

You betcha the 120Hz makes a difference. I mean you are doubling the 60Hz rate.

The Panasonic Plasma's are up to 480Hz (Plasma vs LCD.. different technologies, but I am just saying). With fast moving objects, 120Hz is much better than 60Hz.

Go check out a 60Hz TV vs. a 120Hz TV at Sears or Best Buy. You'll see how much better the 120Hz TV is.

Just remember that the 200hz sets will be hitting the market soon. Improvements are still coming ridiculously fast and furious, so if you're like me, you're pretty much always going to be lusting after something better within a year or two.

I also got this myself last year. Some people got it for around $1000 at the Sears Friends and Family sale last year, they did the Circuit City price match of $1300, they were running a $$150 or 200 rebate at the time for using a Sears credit card and they were also offering an extra 5% off.

Anyway, this one doesn't seem to have as much problem with banding as previous models although some people still report it. No problem with mine or I just don't see it like other people.

How will 200hz have any improvement over 120hz when the media doesn't come close to exceeding 60hz?

I have the 52" of this model. After using it more than a year w/ my xbox 360, I can clearly tell you the quality is A+. Only thing I didn't like is the remote..it was very flimsy and one drop to a wooden floor will bust out the batteries. Make sure you caliberate it from recommended settings from avforums.com. Still, as winston said it is not 120hz model but then again, I've seen the demo from Best Buy and couldn't tell any difference. At least not as drastically from 720p to 1080p comparison. Great deal! I got the 52" for $1800 on last F&F deals~ then my wife bought $1500 tv stand..... ah~~ I guess I can't find great deals on everything.

Please don't misunderstand what 60hz is vs. 120hz. The only practical application is to achieve a 1:1 frame rate with 24p cinema (120/24 = 5, no frames dropped. 60/24= 2.5, frames dropped, looks choppy). Fast moving objects have nothing to do with the refresh rate, that's the pixel response time (i.e. 2ms, 5ms, 8ms, etc). If you go to a store and compare 60hz and 120hz, and don't see a difference, it is because your source material is running at 30 or 60fps (i.e. video game, network TV). Find store that is playing something like Spiderman 3 or Transformers and compare (i know sammy's have a demo mode that does 120hz on one side, and 60hz on the other). You will notice a difference, and in my opinion, it looks unnaturally smooth and I don't like it.
