UPDATE: The last day to vote for your favorite video in the Inaugural FatWallet Video Challenge is Dec. 25, 11:59 p.m. CST.
When voting ends, the video page will display the results, starting with the top rated video. So, the first video you see on this page, Dec. 26, will be the HD Camcorder big winner and the next 4 will win FlipVideo players. But wait, there’s more. The overwhelming admiration for FatWallet in all of these videos was so appreciated by our staff that we’ve decided to award all entries with a special limited edition FatWallet beer stein set (2). Cheers to all of you for making this contest fun and visually vibrant! Happy Holidays!
Lights, Camera, Action! WIN a sweet home video package.
The challenge:
Make a video about FatWallet. After that, it’s all about your direction.
Possible angles: How do you use FatWallet...are you a method user? What keeps you coming back...the popcorn, er cash back? What makes the FatWallet community so special...is Jack Nicholson hangin' incognito? What’s your favorite feature...or, how would you produce a FatWallet trailer, commercial, site tour?
Keep it simple, or make it epic. All we ask is that you show respect for your audience and have a blast making it reel.
The prize:
One grand prize winner will receive a Canon Vixia HF100 HD Camcorder, tons of accessories and a video editing software package worth over $1,750.00 from FatWallet (details listed below) - enough video equipment to make anyone dangerous. Bonus! Four second prize winners will each receive a Flip Video Mino 2 GB
The winners:
Will be chosen by a vote from your fellow FatWallet members. Voting will commence on a new page made available after the video challenge deadline has passed. We'll be encouraging all voters to judge for creativity first, which should help the novice video producer be more competitive.
The guidelines:
Be creative and original. Use any medium. If time is an issue, remember, it only takes a few seconds of video to make a testimonial. ["Think different"] Who knows, maybe we're really looking for an A/V hire??? Make sure it meets YouTube requirements. Do not use anyone else's material, please. If you’re familiar with our members, it won’t help you win:)
Note: FatWallet reserves the right to disqualify entries at our own discretion for content considered inappropriate.
To enter:
Upload your video to youtube.com, including a link back to this topic, then post the video link in this topic on or before 11:59 p.m. CST, Nov. 30, 2008 (see sample entry in first reply). Voting will be held from Dec. 5 through Dec. 25.
Good Luck!
How to use YouTube:
Once you've finished editing your video, make sure it's less than 10 minutes, smaller than 1GB in size, and in an acceptable format, you're ready to upload it.
1. Click the upload button in the upper-right-hand corner of any YouTube page.
2. Enter as much information about your video as possible, including Title, Description, Tags, and Category. The more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
3. Determine if you want your video set to Public or Private.
4. Click the "Upload a Video..." button.
5. In the next window, click the "Browse" button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload.
6. Click the "Upload Video" button. (It can take from a couple minutes to an hour for your video to upload to YouTube.)
If you're receiving an error with your Upload, you might want to make sure you're attempting to upload a file that's recognized by YouTube. YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras and camcorders, and cell phones in the .AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG file formats

Win an high definition camcorder? Wrong.
You base it off the spelled out words not the abbreviation. Well, actually, he's right. While HD is an abbreviation, in common vernacular it's not read as "High Definition" but as "aitch dee". Therefore "an" is more appropriate than "a".

Guess it matters who your teacher was in 2nd grade (See here for its usage both ways: Wikipedia)
I think that concludes today's grammar lesson. Let's get back on topic, that is, my not making a movie.
Can we use a copyrighted song in the background or would that be copyright infringement? Is that what the "Don't use any one elses material" item means? Just curious.
The use of copyrights material like music and/or video footage will disqualify an entry from the contest. That doesn't mean you can't use it and post it, it just won't be included in the voting.
We like Brittany Spears just as much as the rest of you all, but she may not be worthy of FatWallet status
Seriously, have fun and be original. Those are always the best ones!

speaking of that, do we need waivers if people are in video, and do we need to show our music sources and or photos?
my friends are participating in mine, and are any credits allow in end?

let's see how great the video from my cell phone can be
I put the link to this topic in the body of my vid's description. Was going to use the YouTube Annotate function to include a link back to this FW thread in the vid/ad, but their guidelines said it was only for links to other YouTube stuff. Hope that's okay. The link in the description is still clickable, so hopefully that's fine.
The vid, music and end art are all done by me. I enjoy making videos and I'm dreaming about that great prize.
It really could be a series, where the camera pans across all kinds of lovely things (mansions, horse ranches, mountain villas, etc.) and the same wording to accompany, "All this could be yours, IF...you'd gotten a FatWallet kind of deal." Cut to logo.
A bit o' the commercial exaggeration for purposes of dramatic representation of how freakin' great FW is.
woohoo, got mine in the mail today. great job packaging the schwag FW staff member, my package looks like someone took a bat to it, yet still everything arrived intact.
