Guys, please, stop arguing and just make your video if you're interested, or skip it if you're not. I already know mine is not the best, but it WAS the best effort I could make. But please, stop holding it up as some pitiful example of how any monkey with a digicam could still win this, and go ahead and BE the monkey (think Chevy Chase in Caddyshack).
i think the "advertising" value of videos uploaded to youtube is pretty low. (far too low to complain about abusing the community)
They'll be viewed by fatwallet community member, and people searching youtube for "fatwallet". We're not asking uploaders to stuff their descriptions with "funny" or "naked" or "carebears" (or other popular search terms) in order to get the fatwallet 'advertisements' in front of non fatwallet members.
We could certainly hire a professional to make a commercial for us - but then it doesn't capture the views of the community as it'll be directed by staff. We want to capture the creativity and the passion of the fatwallet members.
What we gain, is a better understanding of what people like about our site and how they use it. We're not asking you to tattoo fatwallet.com on your forehead or anything extreme.

I don't think we're trying to hide anything we're doing. We're having a fun contest that you can choose to participate in for the chance to win some cool stuff. Or, you can choose to not participate and keep walking on past the thread. Your choice.

Your choice.Well then we'll leave it at that but I dont think you will find many people willing spend the time creating a video just for a chance at winning a prize. A better incentive would be to offer everyone who participated something small (FW branded USB flash drives maybe?) and the winners the grand prizes.
Hey, I think it'd be nice to win the grand prize, but I'll settle for 2nd, 3rd, heck even 4th. I enjoy doing things with a camera, now, I don't know about the others but I figured why not, I get to create something fun and be able to show what I like to do. Plus getting a prize or two wouldn't hurt. So I'm in. =) Expect my entry last minute though, lol. Good luck to all.
Also, for those that are complaining about how such a prize is only a few hundred dollars, it's not costing you much to make a video, let alone make a video, if you choose to...You have an option to do it, no one is making you. I appreciate this contest. It's a camera, cmon, it's not money coming out of your pocket. The least it's taking away from you is less than 1 gb(or less?) of space on your hard drive. You've got nothing to lose.

Here is my submission for the contest( click here to watch youtube video #1 ) ( click here to watch youtube video #2 ). It said to be original and creative, and asked not to use anyone elses material. I'm not sure if taking a part of an interview of the CEO and turning it into a video sketch would be against the guidelines, but please inform me if it isn't following the guidelines. I'll be glad to redo a video before the deadline. Please get back to me soon though as there are only three more days! This was a fun promotion, thank you FatWallet!
