yes, i have one and it's sooooo cool!

.

I've had a couple of different video cams, but this is by far one of the best ones. I really think you can't go wrong with the Carl Zeiss lens, which provides an awesome clear image. It's quite bulky if you plan to lug it around with your laptop.

Wonder why there's a Mac specific model? I have a mac and a pc and hate buying doubles of everything! Still mad about my tv tuner card not working with the mac!

Supposedly there are some firmware-related issues on Mac and there's a way to make it work but it's a hassle. Instead of just updating the firmware, Logitech just chose to make a Mac specific model and charge a lot more. At least that's the story I heard. Seems like a smart move to me.

I don't know much about webcams, how this one compares with THIS CAMERA from Deal Extreme? They're both 2 MP and the one from Deal Extreme is $13.50 shipped ?!

Get the Logitech. I have one and it is a great camera.

Moving parts and DealExtreme don't go well together.

The second, oh just off the top of my head, the Logitech looks like a professional piece of equipment and the one you suggest looks like a freaking plastic gingerbread man.

good price, in for 1

this will be free in thanksgiving

in for 1.

the microsoft webcam that I have just purchased is going back to be returned

thx op!

Well, you wouldn't buy a digital camera just based on MP do you? Just like that, there can be huge differences in quality regardless of pixel counts. In this case you're comparing one of the best webcams on the market to a stocking stuffer.

OP should post MIR in his title.

I have this camera on my Mac and it works great. Plug and play. It was not Mac specific on the box. It is probably just a marketing deal.

5% Buy.com discount here: LINK

do you really need a Core 2 Duo proc to be able to get nice quality video via Skype? it mentions that proc on their website.

In for one, thanks OP.

don't forget that 'pixel count' is relatively meaningless with webcams. Some companies publish 'effective pixel count' or 'effective resolution'. They may market a 1.3mp camera as a 2mp for video or even 4mp for still pictures even though it clearly is not. Their argument is that they 'create' pixels through interpolation. Load of BS. Phillips for one does this.

Also, the webcam may not be able to do a decent frame rate when running at its highest resolution. Phillips again is notorious for this.

Yes, it's the same.

got one. 5% off worked too.

neither %5 coupon nor rebate instructions have anything against using them together.

I'm on a Mac Pro, OS X 10.5.5 (latest one I think), and it works with Google Video Chat & Skype pretty nicely, with pretty much the exact same quality.

If you absolutely 100% know you are only going to be using it with Macs, go ahead, but it works fine for me, and even if you have a problem, it's still possible to get it working.

In for one. Missed the 5%, but still a good deal. I hesitated due to the MIR but it's through Logitech at least. Though they have been rather slow lately. Way more reliable than Buy.com rebates.

Thanks OP. Total was $71.xx with 5% off

no, logitech makes a different version of the same exact model for every zip code, so be sure you get the right one for your zip code.

.

Received mine yesterday. Compared to my earlier web cams it is superior.

Looks like there will will be no rebate.
