I just bought my 3rd refurb T series from this deal. I paid $40 more on the last 2 a couple weeks ago with similar specs. I have a service organization in my company that needs reliable well built laptops. we have a R series that doesn't cut it, we have 6 month old Dells that can't take the beating. we have a T30 that has outlasted them all. |

I bought it b/c my 2 yo Gateway tablet's screen died a few days ago, a day too late to get in on the BB $300 laptop deal. I rebuilt an older laptop in order to function, but I needed something sturdy. Since Panasonic Toughbooks are outside of my price range, I opted for this. Laptops made these days are so flimsy that I'm wondering if we shouldn't check for their melamine content... |

I've been using the IBM T43 for about 3 years now (I'm on it now!) with no complaints other than it is heavier than I would like. |

The price is great for parts out. IBM wants $800 for the screen and $600 for the motherboard. T4x series are hard to take apart. There must be like 30 screws in 4 different sizes to replace a motherboard or upg CPU. in 3 out of 10 T4x I work on, I always end up with extra screw or screws. The price may not be great for ppls who thinks high tech. I know there are tons of ppls who wants to get their T4x fix ASAP, with paying top dollars. |

I've been having my T42 for more than 4 years. The harddrive crashed once but mainly because my careless and continuous usage. Other than that, it's working like a cow w/o complaining. My wife has a R51 and it works flawlessly for another 4 years. I'm still looking for a Thinkpad for my mother--it doesn't have to super fast, but it's better to be tough. I seriously considered about this T43 for a while, but then gave it up b/c of everyone mentioned above. If it's a unused T40 series, I wouldn't be hesitated to buy it even at $600. Maybe will wait for an old but new T61... |

Had my T43 arrive today, and I'm updating Windows XP now. Casings is in good/very good condition, a few (2 or 3) small scratches on the outside casing - nothing you wouldn't expect for a laptop a few years old. Battery's holding a good charge - have to plug it in to install XP SP3. Screen is 1400x1050 and matte finish(!) - that's what sold me on this system. Keyboard is a little sticky (from cleaning solution), and some of the embossed keys are worn. Hard drive has a recovery partition, and is 80 GB, 7200 rpm. Overall, I'm happy with it. I'd rather carry this around than the M-Series Gateway I picked up from BB. I know I'll be able to get parts for this still for a while if I need them - maybe replace the keyboard down the road. |

Go to eBay, use the Microsoft 25% off, and you should be able to get a good one at a good price. I got an X60 for $400 (after ms) and am very satisfied. |

Left Shift and A keys no longer work most of the time, Bluetooth is not functioning either. Should've known from Buy.com... |

Thanks, but ended up returning it. Was able to get a like new T60 with more features (and 1.5 year IBM warranty!) for ~$75 more after CashBack on eBay. Cost to upgrade the T43 wouldn't have made it worth it |
