Golf Mill IL (Store 321) 9530 Greenwood Ave Niles, IL 60714 Phone: 847-827-7110 Hours: Mon-Sat 10:00am-10:00pm Sun 10:00am-10:30pm I picked-up one in Chicago (Diversy & Clark) yesterday. They had Two(2), and I think the other one is still there. Though I have a question: The computer comes with 1GB memory. It is my understanding that there are 2 memory slotes. Are both slots filled-up with 2x512MB or is the 1GB on one of the slots? In other word, in order to upgrade it, do I need one (1) additional GIG of memory or two(2) additional GIG of memory? |

welphd said:low end specs, really low.At least the CPU is Core, not Pentium 4, contrary what "Pentium dual core" may imply to some people. The worst thing about this computer is the incredibly awful tech support from Toshiba. BTW this computer can use a 2GB memory module (2GB is the maximum total memory allowed), even though Kingston and Crucial say that 1GB is the maximum size per module. |

Thanks for posting. Dual core is better than the laptop WalMart had for $300 last weekend; too bad my area is sold out. BTW, a comment to those who are putting down the specs on this laptop: some of us don't mind technology that is a year or two behind on a laptop--affordability is important for some of us, too. |

In other word, in order to upgrade it, do I need one (1) additional GIG of memory or two(2) additional GIG of memory? I think this is the same notebook I got a few months ago for $399. That one has two 512MB chips. I took one out and replaced with a spare 1GB chip, for 1.5GB memory. I lost the dual channel by not having the same size chips in each slot, but it was a good improvement. BTW, I really like this notebook. It has a decent battery and a really nice screen. |

I'll second that. I'm obviously late in looking at this thread, but it's useful to me simply because I'm one that buys "older technology" because I don't need the latest & greatest, and it gives me info on what WAS out a couple-three years back in order to 'upgrade' (lol). Thanks OP. |
