Simpsons Season 1-9 DVD Boxsets $12.98 Each @ Target, 11/16/08 - 11/22/08 Just looked at the Target flyer, and saw that they have Simpsons Seasons 1-9 DVD boxsets for $12.98 each starting on 11/16. Very hot price for a great series in its prime (although the fall started in Season 9, Season 9 still has its share of brilliant episodes mixed in with the junk). If you're unfamiliar with pre-2000 Simspons shows, please run and grab these sets. The Simpsons used to be a very different (and much better) show!

Although I'd argue the fall started in season 8.

Well, I think Season 6 was the best season, so I guess I'd argue, by technicality, the fall started in Season 7... though I still think Season 7, 8 and 9 were pretty darn funny. Anyway, I think this is a pretty good deal. A whole season of great tv for the same price as a single movie. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the show ended in a year or two, so I might wait for them to come out with the WHOLE twenty-x seasons set.

Season 6 is definitely the best.

I agree that Season 6 was the best, and the quality did drop a smidge in Seasons 7 and 8, but the series was still brilliant. Season 8 also has what is probably my favorite epsiode of all time, "Homer's Enemy". Season 9 was when the show started to rev up the jetski for jumping over the shark, with the worst episode in the history of the series, "The Principal and the Pauper", and lots of other junk, but that season also had some masterpieces, like "Simpsons vs. The City of New York" and "Lisa's Sax". By Season 10, the shark had been jumped. The only standout episode I can think of from that season is "Mayored to the Mob". And from Season 11 on, I can only think of a handful of episodes that I would consider brilliant: "I Am Furious Yellow", "I, D'Oh Bot", "Behind the Laughter", and "Papa's Got a Brand New Shield" are the only ones that come to mind.
Meanwhile EVERY episode from Seasons 4-6 could be considered great, and almost all episodes from Seasons 2,3,7, and 8 could be considered great. All the more reason to pick up these sets if you don't have them already.
