Anyone else find it interesting that a device curtailing standby energy consumption does just the opposite by having its own standby power for the remote? Granted, this will draw power only for itself, but one with a manual switch is the way to go if you are really concerned about saving energy. Bend down to turn the switch on/off - get some excersise!

Therefore, if you really want to save as much energy as possible, use a strip with a manual switch rather than this one with a remote. From hardcore energy savers perspective this Belkin will do a fine job.

Best part is, it automatically switches off other devices example1: you switch off the computer, then all peripherals turn off. example2: you switch off the TV, then all other devices turn off - DVD Player, Receiver, DVR, Gaming consoles, ...
It is still not quire near Belkin's solution, but very very practical.

Amount of energy the remote requires is extremely small compared to the effort of switching off, especially in a house with kids.
That way compare the amount of energy lost in charged batteries even in freezer Better yet, use a Solar charger to charge as many devices, batteries as possible, don't use dryer, walk or use bicycle rather than drive, list is endless for someone who is determined to save battery.
