Deal has been floating around for a week or so now. Newegg added the game mid-stream. As others have reported, you can get rid of the game (and thus take advantage of the extra $10 off promo code---blocked when game is automatically added to cart) by FIRST adding the card to your Newegg wishlist, then, go to the wishlist and move the card into your cart. This strips away the free game and enables use of the promo code.

This works! Thanks a lot.

If you search for reviews of this card online, all of ones I saw show a very different cooling apparatus---a much bulkier-looking rig with a bunch of copper heat pipes visible. Guess MSI changed the setup since that version, probably to save a few bucks.

At the end of the day, $85 (less if you count FatCash) is pretty amazing for an overclocked card with this much rendering power. It's no Radeon 4870 or GTX 260, but it's not really competing with them in the first place.

How reliable are these rebates? I wonder if their rebate fulfillment house is one of those that's effected by economy that's going to shut down and start denying rebates?

I think there's really only one rebate company (albeit a commonly-used one) that is tanking at the moment, and it's the one based in Phoenix.

Over at SD, there's a thread about this deal, and as I recall someone chimed in saying that MSI rebates can generally be problematic. I wish I kept better track of my rebates, so I can't say this with authority, but I don't recall ever getting ripped off on an MSI rebate, and I think I've sent in two or three to date.

Is this a good card for gaming? On games like call of duty on my 8600gt and there is quite a bit of lag on 1680x1050. Can this support gaming on high setting?

was thinking of a HD 4670 but this seems cheap which is better

This card is much better than the 8600GT for COD.
Here is a link to Tom's Hardware Graphic card benches. TOM"S
It shows the difference between the 8600GT and the 8800GT.
It doesn't list either of the cards you mentioned but if you read between the lines you can see the appox results.

I've received several rebates from MSI (motherboards, graphics cards, etc.). IIRC, they can be a bit slow in paying, but they do pay, I'm pretty sure the rebate checks are cut by MSI themselves, not a fulfillment house.
