Poundfoolish, The power screw driver that comes with the kit is just that, a screw driver. It has a hexagonal chuck, one that will take a screw driver tip. It does NOT have a chuck that you can tighten down onto a traditional drill bit. But that is what I wanted it for. I have an 18v Milwaukee that is just too heavy to be using as a screw gun for a quick fix it job. Now there are 2 (I think) other drills in the VPX system. I do not have either of them as I didn't really need them. And I couldn't find those on clearance or I might have bought em I think the larger of the two requires 2 batteries to operate, but you should check on that to be sure. Yes I bought my VPX stuff on clearance at HD back in the early spring. As far as more batteries, truly that depends on your usage. For my money, I think 2 batteries would be the minimum. One charging while one is working. Or flashlight and tool in use at the same time. Yes the saw is super light. It would NEVER be the tool for building a deck. Heck you'd be much better off with a sharp hand saw. But I have used this saw to make a couple of quick cuts. And it worked. Truth be told, my hand saw would have done the job faster. But I'm kind of a tool geek. Also in the system is a vacuum cleaner. But I think it's just way over priced. You'd be far better off with the old dustbuster. They come with the wall mount and charger, so you have a place to store it and it's always ready to go and for a whole lot cheaper. I know that the vacuum uses 2 batteries as well. I hope that was at least a little bit helpful. poundfoolish said:]Thanks for the info, bearsloft.
What's the difference among the sep. drills? Were you finding the rest of the items on clearance? Can you get away with just one battery or do you need more? |
