is 480hz better then 120hz?

decent deal

Will Circuit City price match this? I want no interest for 3 years...

Free shipping makes it green. In for one.

The 480hz they mention is entirely unrelated to the 120hz feature.

This TV has a 60hz refresh rate.

3 strikes

Plasmas have no need for 120hz, only LCDs need it to reduce motion blur.

This is correct. Plasmas really do run at 4X LCD's..

Actually, the plasma cells pulse multiple times per cycle. This specific model pulses 8 times per cycle giving you an effective 480Hz (8x60Hz=480Hz). Some of the top end plasma's go up to 16 pulses per cycle, but these are generally reserved for the 65"+ monsters that cost almost as much as a small car.

Good deal OP, but I'm holding out for between Christmas and the Superbowl

120Hz LCDs are really misconceived... It has nothing to do with motion blur! (Response time is what affects motion blur/ghosting, but that is pretty much a non-issue nowadays) 120Hz is about motion jerkiness (judder)

120Hz = displays 120 frames per second
Film = 24 frames per second
60 is not a multiple of 24, so to compensate some frames are duplicated more -- causing a slight jerkiness
120 is a multiple of 24 so potentially all frames could be duplicated evenly -- no jerkiness

However 120Hz alone wouldn't help, the TV has to be able to detect the original source frame rate and convert it to 120 frames per second properly. In addition... the difference isn't going to be huge, and will only effect certain source material.

Edit: As for Plasma TVs.. unless stated otherwise they are going to have 60Hz refresh rate (again not that big a deal)

If Newegg sells out, 6Ave has this for $806.51 shipped, after coupon code AFL5. Add tax if NY or NJ.

looks good. gonna have my friend order it

sold out. sucks! I live in NY.

Power Consumption 573 W . That's a lotta juice, no? That's like me having 21 of those soft white 27W compact florescent lights on, which is essentially every single light fixture on my first floor. I had no idea a plasma used that much power. Something to think about I suppose vs. an LCD over the long run.

That's max power if the screen is totally white.
When totally black it's closer to 50.
In between, it's ... you get the picture (pun intended).

will Sears PM this?
