They'd make great holiday gifts.

Ya I know, but I'm getting tired of being that guy who gives batteries for xmas. People aren't excited by good batteries for some reason. =)

You can put me on your xmas list and buy me some! I'd love to have them. Great find, OP. I love these batteries. I use them for my digital cameras, my kids toys, remotes, and anything else I used indoors. They last forever.

I wonder why these would be discontinued. Does anybody know if the Duracell LSD precharged batteries are, in fact, the exact same battery as the Enloops -- but with a different wrapper?

Doesn't seem like it. The picture clearly shows the label saying $9.97 and doesn't mention any coupons. I was at Costco in Redwood City, CA last night and only saw the power pack. But then again, I wasn't really looking very carefully so they could have had these somewhere else.

EDIT: I went back to pick up some stuff I forgot to grab last time, so I checked for the batteries. No luck =(

cnIsfg said:.97/.98 Costco pricing is NOT clearance pricing and SKU# 247265 is not a clearance item. The OPs item is a new item for Costco and has only been available since September. Perhaps you are thinking of the older Eneloop battery only pack that Costco sold which inluded 6 x AAs and 4 x AAAs? That one originally sold for $19.97 and was clearanced out over the summer? I saw those for as low as $6.50 in a few SW Costcos where we get their salvage.

IMHO, the $19.97 Power Pack was the best deal because it came with the hard shell carrying case and hence all batteries, charger, etc. were in one place.

If I hadn't just taken advantage of the CVS/Duracell deal, I'd be all over this. I've already got a charger so some extra batteries would be perfect.

I think the current 'Power Pack' doesn't have the hard shell, also contains only 8 AA & 2 AAA.
last year has 8 AA, 4 AAA plus carrying case.

I got one with the carrying case, but I prefer the current Power Pack because I have a need for the C & D shells for baby swings, toys, etc. 4 C & 4 D in each pack is great and well worth the carrying case trade-off since you would rarely transport additional chargers or C & D shells.

Nice find OP.

I picked up the Power Pack last week at Chino Hills, CA Costco for $20. I didn't see the pack that you found though.

FYI you do realize at that time Costco was selling the hard shell Eneloop Power Pack set Sanyo was giving away additional free C & D shells adapters. I called them a couple of times and they sent me out a set at no charge.

Here is a little secret that some of you might already know. Do you see the asterisk on the top right corner of the sign. That is an indicator that this item is pending delete and the .97 means that particular warehouse has marked the item down. So this is very ymmv

I agree these shouldn't be clearance since I've never even seen them here on the west coast, but if you look at the picture in the quick summary, notice the * on right side of the description/price tag. Per the "insider info" I got a while back, the star designates discontinued items. I'm crossing my fingers it's not true though, 6 AA and 2 AAA for $10 is a great deal.

FYI, I just picked up the 8 AA/2 AAA/C&D adapters/charger pack for around $20.

I tested a set of 4 AA and were all 1.3V out of the package. Used a ZTS mini pulse load test and they registered only 80% (20% steps). I then topped them off with a La Crosse charger and was able to load up 495-665 mAh (608 and 631 for the other two). Voltage was about 1.45 after charging.

This initial testing failed my expectations, even though the 80% reading could represent less than 85% one year decrease in capacity. Costco has very high turnover, so I expected these cells to be very fresh and nowhere near 1 year old (or more). Now if the capacity had decreased the ~600mAh needed to top off, it implies 30% capacity loss, which should take more than 2 years. Again, with high inventory turnover, these batteries should be less than a few months old.

Next time, I'll try discharging them first, which may be a better test of remaining capacity. Actual usage may differ significantly from initial testing, so take these number with other reports in aggregate.

Sanyo eneloops leave the factory with an approx 75% charge, not 100%.

Sanyo also seems to be conservative in rating their AAs at 2000 mAh. The actual capacity is more like 2100 mAh.

PIcked up 4. I'll actually use them, too, what with my newfound addiction to flashlights (thanks Cree, corp.).
