I was just on Epson's site and came across the R280 printer for $29.99.

The normal price is showing as $99.99 on the page but if you add it to the cart it shows as $29.99. Not sure if this is a price mistake or an early BF deal...

Free shipping @ $125 so you've got to buy 5 to get there... haha!

Did a search and couldn't find it, so sorry if repost!

Edit: Looks like the page is showing the discount now, so the deal is legit!

this is worth it just for the ink cartridges. don't bother replacing your ink, just get a new printer!

maybe you should change the title to "Set of genuine inks for Epson R280 $29.99 (reg. $80.99) Free R280 incl! Epson.com"

Thanks OP! I needed a cheap printer for CD/DVD direct printing and this fit the bill perfectly! Refills/aftermarket cartridges seem pretty reasonable for this one also!

Green for you OP - was actually looking to order a refurb r280 from epson.com for 55 + FS but this is def hoTTer. In for 1.

Great printer for direct to CD/DVD. I have printed at least two hundred DVD's since august with one of these. As has been said I may order one just for the ink.
Thanks OP!

Get the ink on eBay, it's dirt cheap. Usually get 6 black and 3 of each color for around $40 shipped.

$10 standard shipping in case anyone's wondering...
Generic inks are hit or miss. I've had problems with clogging. If you find a generic manufacturer that works well, stick with them and watch the expiration dates.

I bought one of these new at meijer for $32 (clearance item)... and still took it back.

Why?

INK! My experience with the modern Epsons is that they drink the stuff like mad. This has 6 cartridges. I've had horrible luck with generics. So even buying it as a toss-away "free printer with ink", I didn't feel it was worth the trouble.

The only saving grace for this printer is CD/DVD handling capability.

I have the R200 and use generic inks for years now. I have no problem or what so ever. It's a great buy. If I need one, I will definitely buy it.

I agree with poster above. I have R300 for about 4 years now, still going strong - and I always use generic inks. I get about 200 full coverage CDs out of a set of generic inks, never a problem. This looks like a good buy to me!

Thanks for the info. I just picked up one for my mom. I have had this model for myself. Do they make generic ink for this model? I haven't checked with mine since work pays for the ink.

Thanks

I also have a R300 for many years now and used nothing but generics after the original ones that came with it were used. I also got about 200 cd's printed off a set of cartridges. I just bought an RX595 and I am planning on getting a CIS after the originals are out. There are a few generics out there that are not good quality, but I always bought ink from MegaToners and never had any issues. The generic ink looks just as good as original ink even for photo printing. I would not be reluctant to use generic ink if I were you. You will save a bundle.

The newer Epsons use the newer ink. I don't believe they have good generics for them. For that reason I sold my newer R380 and kept my R340 for the generic compatibility. Different printer I know but the same ink philosophy apply. They changed the ink starting with the R260/R380.

bump

alert mods

Thanks for the bump. This is smokin hot! I haven't been happy with the look of photos from my Canon MP500, and for less than the cost of ink refills, I can try out this Epson. Even if I throw the thing out after it runs out of ink, I'm still ahead.

IN 4 1.

alert mods

Yeah, I'm surprised this deal hasn't gotten more traction, it really seems to be an awesome price!

I hear the photo quality is good on this printer. Plus it can print CDs & DVDs which I don't think Canons can do. Like you said, it's so cheap you can try it out and if you don't like it just get rid of it!

Can anyone recommend eBay seller who sells good generic epson ink?
