- Allows you to run homebrew and backups of your NDS roms on an unmodified NDS - Requires additional purchase of microSD card
Typically with these devices you format the SD card, move files (homebrew, roms, music, mp3s) to the card on your PC, then load the card in your DS. You are then able to select, run/play these items from the touch screen menu.
I ordered four DSTTi's, all four quit working. So far one replacement from DX works and has kept working for two weeks.

For a while, I thought my DSTT from DealExtreme was defective, or just flaky. Finally found two tips to make it operate smooth:
Format the MicroSD card as FAT32, not FAT
Put your games files & homebrew in a folder, not the root of the microSD card. Firmware goes in the root as always.
Lockups & crashes disappeared after following these tips.

I don't understand why there is so much fluctuation in the price of this DSTT. I purchased this on Wednesday for $6.61 shipped, now it's $6.99. I guess since they do business out of Hong Kong, they have their prices pegged to a currency exchange system. So that would explain the constant changes! I love when I answer my own questions...

Part of the problem is in their implementation of how to write save filenames. Particularly files <=8.3 FAT format. This was particular in the game Iron Man. I'm willing to bet that you had a file that was very short and the .SAV file it wrote screwed up the games. Only certain games would work after that. The FAT tables gets even worse as the game locks up and you try to run it again thus creating ANOTHER .SAV file. Reformatting the FAT table then naming the game with more than 8.3 should fix the problem.
I don't know if the current 1.16 firmware fixed that issue. Doubtful since they haven't even implemented simple sorting of games. If you want to try a different firmware for the DSTT to overcome its shortcomings, try YSMENU.
I don't know the actual cause, but I was having two problems.
Games would start to load, but never actually start. Games that would load, would at random times stop with the error message 'The DS card has been removed'.
Both problems appear to be solved for me by those two tips.
I'll have to look...last time I checked they were so expensive I said "no way" on the GBA card devices.

Me too, dkempson, I'd love to know how to use this. Where do you get the software to load onto these cards? What can it do?

This allows you to play homebrew software and/or back ups of NDS roms. A nice feature is that it will hold a bunch of your ROMS on one micro SD and let your kids pick from a menu of what to play.
Of course I only suggest playing ROMs you actually own.

Is this the same as a R4DS?

From what I can dig up on it... It's similar to the M3 and the R4 flash carts.

Thanks AlexJ...You buy a separate microSD card to plug into this I assume.

caveet emptor. there's a hube fuss about the 'quality' of these cards. apparently, half of them are defective or fake. I would advise that you look at the comments before purchasing.

Hehe. I don't really understand what this does but I am sure my son will know what to do with it and it makes a great stocking stuffer.
In for 1.
