what is this 40% off exactly for? thx mugimba said:Broke down and bought the I-inc. It is much cheaper ($257) then the Hanns G with TD live CashBack. I am pretty sure it is the same rebadged monitor. I will probably get a 3 year squaretrade warranty which starts at $44 before coupons (there are 40% off ones floating around). |

i wonder if this is even a true 1920x1200 screen i bet its more resolution with overscan/stretch Expect a boatload of these new TV's being sold as monitors. I think the suppliers realized they could make more money pulling out the tuners and selling their smaller TV's as monitors. I suspect you will also see more TV's that can use the full resolution of their monitors...like this one can. It must have a true 1920x1200 screen or else people would have noticed pixel issues. I like this because my wife really liked the big 24" 1920x1200 but didn't care for the small pixels so I went back to a 21" 1680x1050. This 28" will have a much larger pixel size than even the 1680x1050 monitor. Went with the TigerDirect Live deal as well, though I am worried because there are a few posts complaining of dead or stuck pixels. Perhaps the quality control for I-Inc isn't as good as it is for Hanns-G. By the way, I saw the Hanns-G at my local Costco. If I recall it was $349, which might be better for those that like the Costco warranty. |

I read on another site that the I-Inc models are ones that don't make the cut for the Hanns-G badge, for whatever that's worth. I believe it was on a thread about this monitor on the hardforum site. |

That is disconcerting. Hope it is only a suspicion. I-Inc is a "sub-brand" of Hanns-G so I suppose it is possible. As I understand it, I-Inc is their "value" line...though Hanns-G is already a value compared to some other brands. |

From the reviews I have read it seems TD is more willing to make exchanges then Newegg. It is possible that the I-inc is a sub brand, but since some are getting perfect I-Incs in reviews I wonder if it is more just a case of rebranding then lower quality. For $80 difference, it may be worth the risk to try it out and send it back to TD if you are not satisfied. |

Are you able to combine the fat wallet rebate WITH the live CashBack of 15%? If so, can you please tell me how to do it? |

let us know how that sending it back and not paying a restock fee thing works out. or if you have first hand experience please share. anyone know if an old imac 1.8ghz (original intel) or pentium-m 2.2ghz laptop (geforce to go) could rock this resolution? my old inspiron 530 can rock 1920x1200 with gma3100 for 2D and 720P x264 video no problems. |

Tiger Direct 449 - 15% live CashBack? I think this got sidetracked. The TigerDirect Cash Back deal is for the I-inc clone for $257 after live.com CashBack. I-inc thread |

jackone said:The 1080p specification is unnecessary and gimicky for 24" or above LCD monitors. There are some cheap 24" monitors that are not capable of 1200 vertical resolution, but market themselves as 1080p as if 1080p max resolution on a 24" LCD monitor is a good thing, which it is not.
unless you want an identical monitor with the one you already have, this is not exactly a good deal. If you have been looking for a large monitor, you could have gotten a top of the line HP 25.5" with 40% Cash Back from MS live for $330. Yes, 28" is bigger than 25.5", but when it comes to large monitors, it is not the physical size, it is the pixel count that matters. 1080p >= 1920×1080 = 2,073,600 pixels = FULL HD Yes, this is 27.5" actual and HP is probably better quality. |

That's a decision for ones eyes to make, not ones head. Got mine today. My eyes have decided they like this one much better than my 24" Soyo Topaz. Physical size does matter. Great monitor. |

With all the glowing reviews on this monitor, I hesitate to post my thoughts on it. Don't shoot me, this is just my opinion. Coming from a Dell 24" 2405FPW the Hanns-G looks bad. I did not know that my Dell was *that* great of a monitor, but apparently it is. The Hanns-G has dark, shady spots on it depending on which angle you view it from. Also depending on your viewing angle, the gray/black/white colors are all sort of "washed out," not sure how else to describe it. The base stand is not adjustable. You have to have it very low on your desk and be looking down at it in order to avoid the shady/black/washout at the top 1/3 of the screen. If you look up at it at all, you get this. It's big, don't get me wrong, but my Dell 24 does not seem that much smaller now that I'm using it again. Not recommended. |

I think you were asking for too much. The 2405FPW is an S-PVA panel. A 24" S-PVA panel typically costs $500 or more. They are expensive for a reason. You're not going to get the viewing angles and consistency of color temperature out of a TN panel that you do on an S-PVA panel. |

The proliferation of TN panels in this season's (well, 2007 & 2008) monitors is disappointing, especially in the 22" segment. It's a pity that the obsession with refresh speeds has eclipsed the poor color reproduction and limited viewing angles of this inherently limited 6-bit technology. |

I guess it all depends on what you plan to do with this monitor, whether it's a good value or not. If a low size to price ratio is a concern, this can certainly meet the needs. If you are a gamer that is choosy about details and shades of gray and such, maybe this isn't the monitor for you. For average web browsing, document writing, coding, casual gaming (console or PC) and in my situation multi-tracking audio it works great! It's big enough to please most people with it's resolution, native 1900x1200 looks very sharp. I have no complaints since the money I saved can add more synth power to my studio. So to each their own. I recommend it for it's usefulness, not for it's strength reproducing colors or contrast. |
