The 1080p specification is unnecessary and gimicky for 24" or above LCD monitors. There are some cheap 24" monitors that are not capable of 1200 vertical resolution, but market themselves as 1080p as if 1080p max resolution on a 24" LCD monitor is a good thing, which it is not.

unless you want an identical monitor with the one you already have, this is not exactly a good deal. If you have been looking for a large monitor, you could have gotten a top of the line HP 25.5" with 40% Cash Back from MS live for $330. Yes, 28" is bigger than 25.5", but when it comes to large monitors, it is not the physical size, it is the pixel count that matters.

Most of my clients prefer a lower pixel count. I would say that the majority of them that have 20" LCD's end up going lower than the native resolution. It annoys the crap out of me because everything looks crappy when it isnt native. A larger monitor with a lower pixel count can be a good thing.

Where's the HP thread? This is still a good deal though. CostCo has it for $400. But Newegg isn't the best for monitors. Newegg isn't the best for a lot of things anymore actually.

What is with searching on this site? I searched for Hanns-G, hanns-g, 28", Newegg, LCD and nothing came up until I posted a thread on this and was alerted as a re-post.

Very good deal. Green for you.

Use live.com for another $9.68 discount.

I seriously have the hots for this monitor....71% of 491 reviewers gave it a 5. It ain't state of the art like the Dell, but for a non gamer with older eyes it prolly don't get better than this. what to do?

someone here said: "Yes, 28" is bigger than 25.5", but when it comes to large monitors, it is not the physical size, it is the pixel count that matters".

That's a decision for ones eyes to make, not ones head.

This a nice unit specialy for the lowered price . My brothers been using his unit for awhile now (he paid $450 many months ago) and its a great lcd for gaming . All though it is a tn panel with not the greatest of viewing angles (compared to mva panels) , its still not a problem for most used as a straight on pc monitor . Colors are very good with basically no motion blur what so ever . For the current price and ALOT of nice viewing realestate , the Hanns 28" is a very very capable lcd for 90% of the pc people out there . If I did not already have a Soyo 24" (mva panel) , I'd be hopping on this deal in a heart beat (although another 4" in viewing realestate at this price sure IS tempting !) .

I got it for $399 at Costco a few months back and am more than satisfied with this monitor. I love the resolution/size combination. Your icons and text are not dinky so I can sit a little ways back and still have a usable monitor. Colors and speed are more than acceptable to me. It may not be a top tier panel, but for $339.. Push the button already..

I jumped on this monitor about a year ago Dec. and haven't looked back. It was about $500 a year ago (I watched the price go down from $760 in a few months). Its a great gaming monitor, its a great work monitor (I also gave up my 2nd monitor and just run it alone now). Non-native resolutions still look OK, although most modern games will do the 1920 x 1200 resolution just fine. The color depth isn't the greatest and I wish it had more ports but beyond that no complaints at all. At $339 this monitor is a steal.

on eBay you can get around $285, but without warrenty

The I-inc 28" version of this monitor will be available for $300 and $2 shipping at CompUSA and possibly TigerDirect (they are the same).

CompUSA has a $20 paypal promo and TD has 15% live.com Cash Back. These are set to expire sunday, but have been extended in the past.'

If the live.com Cash Back works it would be $257 from TD and $282 with paypal from CompUSA.

The I-inc only has a 12 month warranty. What do you guys think of the I-inc compared to the Hanns G, and do you think the $339 price will hold at Newegg until monday? I would like a large lcd monitor. Damn, these prices keep falling.

I would not get one of these monitors on eBay, the 3 year warranty sweetens the deal. My 24" soyo croaked 13 months into ownership.

Don't get anything on eBay, I'm still boycotting them due to the ridiculous eBay & PayPal fees.

I'm going with one from CompUSA, but note that the PayPal promo ends on Sunday, so you won't be able to get that $20 - unless they extend the time period, which I doubt.

When is the deal from CompUSA and TigerDirect going to be live? It shows 360$ right now.

Dont hesitate for quality, for the price, there is nothing close and you are looking at a huge boost in price to step up to a 30"
I got the first one expecting it to be so-so but it stands up to my nicer Dell monitor, even side by side, which is why I am replacing the Dell with another one of these!

As mcwhitman said, the Hanns-G HG-281DPB and the I-Inc iF281DPB seem to be the same monitor with the I-Inc having just the one year parts and labor. The additional $40 for an extra two years warranty on the Hanns-G is less expensive than the extended warranty you can buy at Tiger Direct for the I-Inc($65 for 1 year and $100 for 2 after the manufacturers warranty.) These monitors are both excellent deals.
