As per above, there's a 2.0 profile firmware update (you just need to keep a 1GB memory stick in it to activate the BD-Live features). And it will bitstream DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD to a capable receiver. |

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been seeing that Samsung's blu-ray players are not compatible with reading AVC-HD formats, for those of you looking to burn HD content to a DVD. That's the only thing that held me back from this great deal; still green for you OP! |

Firmware update will bring this player to Profile 2.0 I have this player, and it is a good player. Blu-ray PQ is excellent, but standard DVD upscaling is kind of middle of the pack. I don't like the remote. Load times are quick, but not the fastest. Be prepared to have a USB drive plugged in at all times as soon as you upgrade to Profile 2.0 (BD-Live), otherwise you may find some disc incompatibilities (freezes) with some discs due to the lack of internal memory. Overall it's a profile 2.0 player with excellent Blu-ray picture quality that can bitstream ALL the audio formats, for the price of a profile 1.1 player. Good deal. |

According to Samsung's site:
BD-ROM / DVD-ROM / DVD-R / DVD-RW / AVCHD / audio CD Yeah I've looked into that, and some people have said that Samsung has made their players very picky about which AVC files they'll read. There's gotta be someone else out here that knows more about this than I do, but it's just a heads up in case anyone has any issues with it. |

It plays what the spec says for AVCHD, which is 1280x720 or 1920x1080, High Level 4.1 at 23.976 FPS. So yeah, I guess it's picky. |
