Abt Electronics has a samsung bdp 1500 blu ray player for $149.99 with free shipping and possibly no tax based on were you live. Seems like a solid deal. enjoy!
Cool! I am being charged taxes. Looks like if you spend $200 you can save $20 paying with paypal. No google savings and I looked for a coupon code for abt. No luck but still a good price.

It's on the same playing field as those two. I would still go with the Panasonic or Sony, because of the design. I was able to see them all up close and the Sony and Panasonic take up a lot less room. But if like myself, you have a Samsung television, it might be a deal worth biting on.
I got the Panasonic for $150 and am very happy with it.
I will hold on for some more time. Passed the panasonic and Sony deals. Now this one too. I guess it won't be too long for the players to drop to around $100.
The BD-P1500 is upgradeable to BD-Live (2.0) through a firmware update. 7.1 audio is available through HDMI bitstreaming.
You gotta do it yourself and some reviewers have noted problems doing it by themselves.

May want to take a close look at the BDP-2500 for $249.99 minus $20 by using PayPal. This one has a really nice chip (pretty much state of the art) for upscaling standard DVDs and also can do NetFlix streaming. Personally, I think the extra $80 is well worth it.
I believe that I just did a flash upgrade of my newly purchased BD P1500 and it is now Profile 2.0 A bit scary doing the process, because you can end up with a 200 dollar doorstop if there is a power failure or your dog pulls the plug or your cat steps on the surge protector switch. None of those things happened, the USB update went v. smoothly.
Unfortunately when I went to the link Sideout identified, the price was $250

they have a 2.0 firmware avail.. also this is the only player i tested in the stores that works with blue ray disks burned on regular or double layer dvds.. although the latest f/w broke that

The firmware update seems to work, but it can not upgrade the memory. You need to keep a 1GB USB thumpdrive plugged in at all time to keep with the 2.0 standard.
Yup. One thing people have to realize is, why $150 may seem decent now, theres a reason why they lower prices like this at the end of the year....they are trying to unload stuff before it drops drastically.
All these blu-ray players are supposed to be under the $100 mark next year so.....
Comming up at 249.00 once added to my cart plus saying product no longer available. Oh well. I'll find a Sony for less than 200 tomorrow! Just thought this would be good since I just ordered a new samsung plasma.

The player is in backorder.
I just got the email below...
Thanks for placing your order at Abt Electronics. Unfortunately, your product is on backorder. After contacting the manufacturer, we have been told that it could take approximately two weeks before it reaches our warehouse. If there's an urgency to get something before our estimated date above, we are more than happy to change your order to any item you may see that's in-stock on our site. If you would like to wait, we would be happy to ship out your original order as soon as it arrives in our warehouse. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Does not currently support Profile 2.0 or have onboard DTS-HD Master Audio decoding; Blu-ray image quality could be better; DVD playback will disappoint videophiles; no analog multichannel outputs; some annoying operational glitches; operational speed still sluggish compared with PS3.

Same idea.
