It is back! From 12/4 - 12/7 Sears B&M has a deal where you get a $10 reward card when you buy a gift card for $75 or more. The $10 reward card can be used through 1/31. Technically there is a limit of two per customer, but you can go to different registers and buy more.
If you have a Sears in a mall that is participating in the Discover Giftcard Deal, you can combine by buying the Sears gift cards with the Discover card.
Buy 8 $75 Sears Gift Cards for $600. You end up with $740 in cards total: 8 $75 Sears cards = $600 8 $10 Sears Reward Cards = $80 3 $20 Discover Cards = $60
You can buy more, but that was the max that gives an exact number of cards under the $1000 discover limit.
The regular cards do not expire, but there is some risk that if Sears goes out of business the gift cards could become worthless, so only buy what you can use quickly or are willing to risk.
this is better than a 10 off 75, because you can still apply coupons to a purchase. my Sears salesperson always seems to add an extra 25% unadvertised, very cool

Also most Sears coupons exclude clearance. Both the regular gift card and the reward card work on clearance. I cleaned up on this last friends and family night when the extra 10% off worked on clearance and so did the gift cards.
Oh - and price matching. You can't use another coupon when you price match, but you can use these gift cards. If you know how to combine deals this can be smoking hot. Last year on a slightly different version of this deal I used the gift cards on a TV and got price matched, plus a rebate for using the Sears card in combination with these gift cards.

good deal for those that need something at Sears. Maybe you can explain why you could only buy 8 $75 card at Sears?
Max Discover paid out is (5X$20 = $100) as long as you spend atleast $1000 so that mean you can buy 14X$75 = $1050 You get 14X$10 = $140 in Sears GC + $100 in discover GC
So you would spend $1050 and get $1290, that's close to getting 20% off of your Sears purchase, this is not including any promotion Sears is running at the time of purchase.
P.S. if you search through the forum, someone else posted that you can purchase/reconsolidate GC at Sears with GC and you also get that $10 extra card as long as the purchase is over $75.

What do you mean by that? Does he just give you an additional 25% disc??

They may allow you to consolidate for example
Take 4 $75 GCs and buy 3 x $100 GCs. You will still receive 3 x $10 reward Cards.
No, not according to the terms. They specifically say that only gift cards purchased with cash, check or credit card will be eligible for the reward card.
Can you pay on a Sears credit card with this deal?

NO . but there's always a creative way to go about the system. A while back, I purchase a Refrigerator with some gift cards and pay the remaining with the Sears CC. Set it for home delivery. But a couple days later I found a better deal at another store. Call and cancel and they put the whole balance back on my Sears CC. Might still work or not.

I havent asked him what the discount is but it shows up on my receipt as 'MULT DISCOUNT'. I've had this applied 3 times over the last few months.

Is it better Kmart buy $50 gift cart and get $10 gift card?
Do you need to buy these in-store? (Okay, I get that you can't do the DISCOVER part of this online... that needs to be done at a participating mall.. but can you do the Sears part of this online?) Also, any link to a sales brochure or ad where it displays this deal?
According to http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/874614/ you can earn 4% FW CashBack on purchasing gift cards at Sears.

Where are the details of this deal? I did a search for it, and didn't find it.
As far as whether it's better or not.. well, I think you can probably participate in both Sears and Kmart deals, but you are still limited on the discover end.
I called Sears. They know nothing about the $10 reward card with $75 gift card purchase. Could you send us the link to the promotion? Thanks!

It was in the advertising insert in my newspaper. Also there are signs in the store.
Has anybody besides the OP confirmed the Sears deal?
I went to the local Kmart and I did see the $10 for $50 that was previously metioned in this thread however, the Kmart details are as such: The sign I saw instore seemed to say the deal was only good 12/5/08 to 12/6/08. I don't know if they're running any other similar deals beyond these dates. You can only get 2 per person (so $100 in gift cards gets you $20.. which is 20% pretty darn good).. You can seemingly spend the Kmart giftcards at Sears. And like the Sears deal, the bonus gift cards expire at the end of january, however, the regular gift cards don't expire or have fees.
