ZipCar has been emailing existing members with $25 driving credits. This thread will try to consolidate them to cut down on re-posts. The codes have the format DriveNow___, where ___ is an abbreviation for a geographical location (or in one case, the format is DriveNow___####). This will not be a thread for other types of driving credits (e.g. bonuses for new member sign-ups).
These will give you the credit to your account no matter what area you are in. (Update: see below)
Fine Print (from ZipCar email) said: This driving credit will expire December 17, 2008 at 11:59pm. The credit must be used before then and does not count for reservations made after that date and time. For me, the codes expire in 15 days from the time I entered them.
Update (12/08/2008): It looks like ZipCar is removing credits from accounts that don't qualify for them. Use the above codes at your own risk. You could end up paying full price.

Thanks Evil! But I am going to take a chance and wait until next week to try this..at this time I don't know how I am going to use my current $125 credits by Dec 20! Hopefully by next week we might have codes for other cities too!
BTW, Does anyone know whether we have to reserve by the credit expiration date OR completed our driving? I don't want to call the customer service to avoid issues!

Based on the FAQ "Once you become a member your driving charges will be charged to your credit card once you have completed a reservation."

No fine print other than that the credit has to be used within 15 days? I'm hesitant to use the credit today and risk being hit with a $65 charge on Monday because the codes weren't sent specifically to me...

Also a bit bummed that I never legitimately got a code. I zip around frequently enough and spend on average $100-$150/mo..
Maybe they're targeting zipsters who don't use the service very frequently, to try and get them hooked...
No. It is incorrect. When they bill it, they will deduct the charges from the existing credit (if we have any) first before they bill the credit card. At least that is what happened to me last timw when I reserved for 3 hours and had credit for $65. They did not charge my credit card.

I am not sure whether we have to be that skeptical about it since all it says is "Credit: December Driving". And i believe since the code we used here to get credit seems more like a general promo code.
What I am planning to do now before I use $125 credit is to just reserve for an hour first and see how it works. If I don't run into any issue, they I will probably book for a day to have some fun with my family.

It worked for me. Thanks, OP! Thanks! It worked for me too. I've updated the OP.

It looks like driving has to be completed by the expiration date. The fine print that noANANDforme pasted from the email says:
ZipCar Email said: But you gotta hurry. This driving credit will expire December 17, 2008 at 11:59pm. The credit must be used before then and does not count for reservations made after that date and time. (He received his email on Dec 3rd, so 15 days from then would be Dec 18th, but I guess ZipCar's computer system can only make expiration dates relative to the time entered, instead of absolutely on a certain date?
beatmesweety said: Yes. If you use all 6 codes in the OP you will get 6 credits for $25 gisele2828 said: does anyone know if these credits stack?
thanks, I know I now have $150 in credits. what I was wondering is if I can use it together to rent 2 complete days or is it only good for $25 per each of 6 reservations?
You should be able to use it together to rent 2 complete days but dont take chances doing this on the credit expiration date. For ex. If all your credit expires on Dec 21. Ensure you complete your reservation by Dec 20 to be on the safer side. Just my suggestion.

I just checked up on my old thread and was surprised to see so many new codes! Awesome find guys! I'm at $150 in driving credit too, extended from $25.
I zipped for 3 hours this evening and I had some $50 credit that is expiring on 2015 and then 5, $25 December credit (used the codes in OP) and now I see the zipcar has used my december credit which is exactly what we all would like to see!! So basically it is using the credit that is expiring first.
>>>> Hours: 2pm to 5pm 3 hours $10.25 $30.75 Total Charges $30.75 Paid with credit: December driving $-25.00 Paid with credit: December driving $-5.75 Total Credits $-30.75
total billed: $0.00 >>>>>
One thing I wanted to mention is that I did not have to call customer service for anything so basically everything must have happened systematically. I am not sure what would have been the CSR's reaction if I had to call them for some reason and the CSR noticed my 5 december credits. This is something that we all have to keep in mind. So, the bottomline is if you are not calling zipcar for any reason things are looking good.
BTW, I am yet to use DriveNowPDX..I am holding off using this until next weekend so I can have $25 credit during the christmas week (assuming this code still works next week!)

You can read "reservations made after that date" either way-- does anyone know for sure whether you have to *make* the reservations by that date, or make the reservations *for* a time prior to that date?

You're right, and we can't know for sure without asking ZipCar, but... First rule of Fatwallet: DON'T CALL
Seeing that ZipCar doesn't calculate the charges and bill you until after the reservation is over, if the promo credit has expired by then, even if you made the reservation before that, there's no way for the promo credit to be applied.
Unless you're a gambler, I would recommend that you make and complete your reservation before the promo credit expires.

you're a new zipcar user, but you are not a new forum member. read the first post, link is there.

Seems that they might be catching on as mine were removed also. Interestingly enough, the codes do not seem to be disabled. Ran a trial and the system accepted the code and added $25 credit to my account. Not holding my breath on that one remaining though...
I got this email after contacting Zipcar about my missing credit.
The coupon codes you used on your account are directed towards specific members in certain markets. If you are not one of these members the driving credit cannot be activated. If you can please forward me the email you received with this offer I would be happy to add the $25 credit

Same here... all $150 removed... but they didn't send me an email to explain.
They did email me with my own $25 credit, though. DriveNowSF####, but now that I think about it, I'm worried that the #### is member/user-specific. Can anybody else that got the SF code PM me to check?

My credits are gone, too, without notice. I had been looking forward to taking a small trip on their dime.
As of yesterday, only one or two sites copied the codes from the OP, but as of this morning a lot more had them... Somebody probably called ZipCar. ::sigh::

used multiple codes, mrbc19, but didn't repeat the same code. like you, i had the credits disappear a few times, but i just made sure that the credits were in the back before i returned the car and voila, nada! talk about zip!
