FWIW, I placed two orders in November, and my CashBack was not reported for either of them. I created support tickets this morning.

I've gone to a restaurant that had a sign "We do not accept restaurant.com certificates," I was pissed since I had the certificate in hand and had placed the order ahead of time. I just payed with cash and have not used restaurant.com since. I've called other restaurants (listed on restaurant.com), and they don't even know about the certificates.

Good luck to those who use them.
I'd say that's a huge red flag as to the legitimacy of restaurant.com. Unless you happened to talk to people who work there that just don't know anything about it?

Sounds pretty shady to me -- $1.50 for $25 gift cards is questionable. Read the terms of service -- restaurants can at any time, at there discretion , not allow these certificates. The most you'll get is restaurant.com credit if can't use them within 90 days, no refunds - and the pleasure of feeling like a cheapskate idiot as you walk out, or put someone else in that position if you try to be a cheapskate and give these as gifts.

It has long been my point of view that most of the restaurants on the website are 1. overpriced (taste doesn't justify price) and 2. not doing very well. Those restaurants that don't fall into either of those two categories are the ones that consistently sell out of gift certificates fast or soon leave the website as they have enough business without giving away "free money". Those who don't leave the site quickly increase the minimum bill requirements.

No thanks, I'll pass.
What's shady about it? You usually have to spend $50 to use the $25 off so it's essentially getting it half off.

This happened to me one time and all I had to do was contact them and they easily credited my account for an equivalent certificate, no questions asked. I have used these certificates for years. Every now and then, I'm unhappy with a restaurant that I try through them, but by and far have been very pleased, especially when picking up a $25 certificate for a few bucks!
And most of the restaurants in our state ask you to only spend $35 in order to use the $25 certificate. We have often enjoyed an appetizer, steak dinner and shrimp dinner, for a total of about $12. It's the way to go!

LA may be an exception since there is so much restaurant competition here, but there are a bunch of good local restaurants listed.
I have also had 100% success rate with restaurant.com gcs.
I'll only buy for restaurants I'm familar with, or at least have seen and they look nice. We've never been refused. You have a year to use them, so there's no rush.. and they're CHEAP! If, for some reason, the restaurant stops accepting them, I've read that people have no problem getting a credit to use for more certs at another restaurant.
There are 3 restaurants in our area that we use these at on a regular basis (once a month). We eat out about once a week, so for 3 times a month our meal is VERY cheap. It's just me and my dd.. average cost OOP is about $20 AFTER tip.
It's a good way to try a new place too.. wish they'd add some new restaurants in our area.
There are some restaurants on the list who want to increase 'revenue' even if profits are low. In one case, the restaurant business was for sale. I guess in other cases 'revenue' may be needed to make a bank happy?
They're not giving away anything special. restaurant.com has a lousy selection of restaurants to choose from, if there are any within a 40-50 mile area of your house. I'm not willing to travel that far for a lousy meal.
And to the above post, it's happened to me before with the restaurant not excepting it. I'm not going to waste my time....
Just wanted to chime in that I've found these certificates to be a great value ... we have used successfully many times, typically purchasing $25 certificates for 80+ percent off. Do note, importantly, that they are usually $25 off a $35 purchase, so there is still some additional expense involved, but when carefully planned it turns out to be a great deal.

There are some restaurants that have delicious food, good service, etc, that are on restaurant.com. From my experience, these places have more restrictions (can't be used on a weekend, etc), or they mostly serve to a lunch crowd (hence certificate is Dinner Only)...etc

Only once have I have had a problem with a restaurant.com restaurant. They "said" they never signed the deal to be listed and would not accept the certificate. It sounded more like manager/owner remorse for signing the deal. I was promptly refunded for another certificate.
I save over $1000 per year with restaurant.com certificates. I use them at home (Los Angeles) and while I travel (Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Orlando, New Orleans, Miami, Phoenix) and have found many excellent restaurants. A few duds but I normally research each restaurant for user reviews before buying. I also call or email each restaurant to make sure they are participating (something I've been doing since my one rejection).
In California, these gift certificates have no expiration date and can be replaced forever.

there is no reason not to receive the FW Cash Back.
1) Be sure you start at the official Cash Back page to link through so it's in your "click history". Many people just click the link inthe OP and don't use the OFFICIAL FW link to absolutely make sure the Cash Back will get linked.
2) If it doesn't show after 3 weeks, create a support request and with the proper documentation, it will get credited.
3) hate to say it, but if you do things right, it's not MAY get the FW Cash Back, it's WILL get the FW Cash Back. So threadcrapping isn't entirely inaccurate. But I won't call you a jackass, no reason to call people names on here.

Well, you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

so.... Just do your support ticket if you didn't get your Cash Back reported. If you have so wisely used the proper FW links, all the proof exists. What's all the fuss about then? Still don't understand the "MAY" get Cash Back gripe.

Sounds just like my experiences, complete with one rejection. So now I call first, get the name of the person who confirms their participation, and enjoy a steeply discounted meal. A few run about $12 all told, sometimes a bit more, but always a deal.
MISTERCHEAP said: so.... Just do your support ticket if you didn't get your Cash Back reported. Which, as I already said, I did this morning. I don't need your condescending instructions on how to do what I have already done.
If you have so wisely used the proper FW links, all the proof exists. What's all the fuss about then? Still don't understand the "MAY" get Cash Back gripe. Because I "MAY" get it or I "MAY" not. Here is something that was sent to me by FatWallet support in regard to a previous ticket: "We'll continue to research this purchase and try to recover a rebate... [but] It's not always this easy to recover a rebate that hasn't shown up as expected." In other words, you may not get your money. It's not a forgone conclusion that we get paid when a company doesn't report the transaction.
And even though I still may receive CashBack after creating the support tickets, it is worth mentioning to others that restaurant.comCashBack has not been reporting. So stop complaining about me posting that information here. If the CashBack isn't reported, then the best case scenario is that you waste your time filling out support tickets. I had to take screen shots of my order confirmation emails and create two tickets just to save $4.50. It's a waste of my time.
-Their site gets very sloooow and buggy at times (like during these sales). -In the listings for my area they do have a couple of restaurants that I know are out of business. -In your account info area they don't track whether or not a GC has already been redeemed. You can call and ask, but there's no automated way to find out. You can, however, update the status by yourself at the site.

Well, I for one have had great luck with the few restaurants in our area. I also bought for my parents who live in a completely different bigger city and they had no problems with theirs and loved it! In our area, one restaurant in particular is a high quality always packed sushi place and as you all know, sushi is pricey! Love a great meal for $12. And you know, if it doesn't work out, you've only lost $2! You can always call the restaurant BEFORE ordering to see if they are accepting the certificates currently! The phone numbers are on the site right beside where you'd click the "order button".
100% success rate with about 10 or so restaurant.com GC's. It's not shady at all. Remember that there are mins that you have to spend in order to use the GC.

Out of about 20 certificates, we've had only one not accepted. So, we left. Though it was a bit disappointing, we just went somewhere less expensive. I buy these for vacations so that we can eat at decent places and pay fast food prices. And, only some places add on the gratuity (if it's stated on the certificate).....it's no big deal, don't most of us tip 15-20% anyway?? These certificates are great! Thanks OP!!
And, my CashBack for purchases last month is in my account....
Can you not buy 2 25$ gift cards and use them both on the same tab? I commonly combine giftcards if I have left over value. Is there a fine print I am not seeing here? Of course you would still have to pay the tip in cash, but the extra money wasted on the extra gift card would be small.
