Got a hankering to buy Planet Earth on Blu Ray without having to hear Sigourney Weaver's voice and found this from some random (to me) site who jacked it from SD (so I guess credit goes to SD). So it's the UK version of the BBC version which means it's (as far as I've read) 5 disks instead of the U.S. version's 4 so there's more content but I don't know what. Either way, it's the best price I've been able to find on the BBC (not Discovery Channel) version of this.
It's £25.23 shipped so I guess that comes out to somewhere between $35 and $40 depending on the exchange rate and whatever charges you may have to incur from your cc.
Update: my total came out to $38.92. Correction, $37.62...maybe more if the pending charges are related to this...
Some more info I had from the forum I found the deal on prior to buying and posting but didn't include: 1. The box says 1080i for legal reasons because some of the bonus material is 1080i but the substantive stuff is 1080p. 2. People in the states who ordered have received it and report that it works beautifully. One of them owns a 40gb PS3 which I assume was the weapon of choice. 3. They're receiving it about 10 calendar days after ordering. 4. Will arrive via USPS. 5. I recall seeing one person say one of his disks was loose in the box when it arrived but was unscratched. Most [common] damage I saw was creases in the box probably from shipping. 6. Differences in versions: BBC UK version: Attenborough Narrages, no cut footage, 5th disk with "Natural World" bonus BBC US version: same as BBC UK without the bonus disk Discovery US version: Sigourney Weaver narrates, 10 min cut from each original episode (for commercial time), has 5th bonus disk with "The Future." Also, I'm not as sure about this, the encoding actually IS 1080i. Based on a review I read, the picture quality is a little inferior to the BBC versions, but I assume that's only if you're REAL nit picky

Q: Will this play in my US Blu-ray player?
A: Yes. This UK Planet Earth Blu-ray set is region free so it will play on any Blu-ray player.
Q: So PAL isn't a problem like it was with DVDs?
A: Correct. High definition video is 1080p/24 which eliminates the whole PAL/NTSC issue.
Q: Well then, what do I need to worry about when buying foreign Blu-ray discs?
A: You need to know if the Blu-ray disc you're buying is region locked or region-free. If it's region free, you can play it on your Blu-ray player. If it's region-locked to a specific region, then you won't be able to play it unless your Blu-ray player can play that region, which is unlikely.
Q: What's the current exchange rate of 1 British pound to the dollar?
"Region: All Regions" I didn't know they officially made all region Blu-Ray films. I'm hoping that information is correct since European blu-ray region is B, while US is A.
So I guess be careful in case it is a misprint and you end up with the BBC set you can't watch. Wonder what the return policy would be for international shipping.

Straight from your Wiki link:
"As of late 2008, almost 70% of all released discs were region-free"
The US release of the BBC's version is region-free according to Amazon.com, Im betting this will be too. Im not worried about this being a misprint, and even if it is...its Amazon. They will make things right.

I think it is okay, the specs say all regions. Look at the BBC version of the Matrix trilogy on the same site, that is "not" okay and is region 2 and PAL.
dang. got in on the weaver one just a couple weeks ago. oh well. i'll just mute and watch the gorgeous picture
also, for all those asking about the differences, it was posted in the other thread. i think there is extra footage that was cut out in the US version to make more time for commercials.
afaik, this version is also 1080p compared to the 1080i of the US version.
