TowHead said:I bought a bunch of Harmony One remotes back during the C.C. fiasco ($149 in computer, they weren't even available yet) and took home a stack when they came in. Sold them on eBay for about $225/ea and kept one. Even got all those nice hirez icons on it, etc. Then there it sat on its charger dock, dust collected on top, and I never used it. Decided to sell it on eBay for $150 BIN plus $20 shipping and guess what ... sold in less than two hours even though I included pictures of the screen all scratched up.

When I want to change channels, I use the Dish remote. When I want to play a movie, I use the PS3 remote. When I want to switch between HDMI 1 and HDMI 2, I use the TV's remote. When I want to turn everything off I get off my chair and push the power button on the TV after turning off the PS3.

Harmony remotes, while cool, are IMO a foolish waste of money. Sure you get reduction of remotes, but what do you do when your remote gets out of synch?

It boggles my mind that bought a Harmony and never used it...then you pick up a different remote for every task that you want to do including getting up and physically push buttons on your TV, then you determine the item that you purchased and never used...the device that would simplify all that crap, is a foolish waste of money. Are you kidding, or just not very bright?

What the heck do you mean out of sync? Set it up properly and it works properly. Duh.

That is ridiculous. I can't stand having several remotes. My 880 has all the additional functions of the OEM remotes for my Digital Cable, AV receiver, DVD, and TV? Who in their right mind wants 4-5 remotes around just to watch TV? Gotta disagree with you on this one. Thumbs up to Harmony for making my life easy!

As for the accelerometer question, I think he meant the tilt on function, the 880 does light up when you tilt it.

I used to own a 880 for 2 years until the buttons stopped working (I've always loved it), so I jumped on the Harmony One for $139AR last month and I love the Harmony 1 even more. The buttons are bigger, it fits much better and the touch screen works neat. And finally a working cradle

So to summarize: the 880 is a fine remote, but the One is better (and more expensive).

Anyone know a replacement AC adapter for the 880 other then the ones Logitech sells directly? Bought three of these from eBay, no AC adapters, so looking for 3 sets of Ac adapters. The Logitech prices add up fast for them.

Thanks in advance!

I think if you find out the voltage and plug adapter size you could probably pick a few up on eBay pretty cheap. If not an electronics warehouse place like TigerDirect sells these. There are also the multi-adapters that they sell at Radio Shack that are switchable on voltage and have interchangeable tips.

It's the plug tip size that throws me and I believe they are a 8V design. Plus the way they plug into the cradle means it must be striaght on the end, not a 90 degree plug like many of the multi-voltage ones are.

Boggled MY mind too, the $150 thing sitting there unused. I set it up with all the features, even set up colored icons, etc., and hated having wasted the time to set it all up. I did buy my parent's the 520 for $29, and it's working for them but I made sure they knew to let the remote broadcast towards the TV when powering on/off the system. Getting it out of sync means figuring which device to control and bringing it back into sync because one didn't wait long enough for all the devices to be powered on/off. Ended up having to perch the thing on a table's edge so I could run off to the toilet!!!

To each his own, but with a Harmony I can turn on my Projector, DVR and Processor, switch to the correct input with one button.

Now let's do this without the remote:
- Turn on the projector (remote 1)
- Turn on the DVR (remote 2)
- Turn on the processor (remote 3)
- Switch to the correct input (same remote)
etc

Now there are remotes that can do the same for less money, but that's similar to anything in life: you can buy something inexpensive or expensive and each has it pros and cons. If you're happy without a Harmony; good for you. I for one can't live without it.

Dont forgot things like.. Oh i have a light dimmer with an IR sensor on it.. and i want to dim my lights.. either get up and push the switch or find that remote.. Oh wait.. the harmony can even be programmed for IR light dimmers you say?
