I need some help. I know nothing about DVR boxes and have searched and cannot find any "basic" information... Right now I rent a motorolla HD DVR box. DOes anyone know if I can just buy one somewhere??? If so, Can I just hook the cable up to it? Or do I have to have a "provider" like TiVo? Many thanks to anyone who can give me some answers! |

thietlong said:Yep, blueray iso play fine for me as well. This is definitely a top notch piece of hardware. The only issue would be incompatibility with DTS audio, which you could easily convert to AC3 using the audio decoder from popcorn hour. If you have a AV receiver that decodes through HDMI it will pass DTS no problem. My Onkyo 605 shows DTS Discrete ES when playing a movie encoded with DTS 6.1. |

Add me to the list of believers. I've had this media player for about a month now and it plays everything I've thrown at it. If you want a cheap and easy way to play digital content, this thing is great. Right now for the price, I haven't seen anything that comes close to the WD. |

I absolutely love this thing. I either load up my 16g USB thumbdrive with shows I've downloaded, or I can connect one of my WD USB powered drives. It takes a little longer with the bigger drives to load up the menus, but with the USB drive it's pretty fast. Would highly recommend this to anyone with a large amount of DIVX type files. I've even started to watch some HD mkv's I've picked up (Sanctuary) and they look amazing. |

petabb said:I have 2 blueray ISOs and they play fine. Though the embedded subtitles can't be called up. By the way, I also tested several external hard drives. Largest I have is 1.5 TB and it works great.
One word of advice, don't load the hard drive with other junks or the scan time will be slower. What if you load the 1.5 TB drive with movies. Will it be slow? |

I got this unit today. Not so excited about it. There isn't any volume control on the remote nor the system. I know you can control volume with your audio receiver or TV. It would be nice I can adjust volume with the remote. Also, is there a way to play DVD with the navigation as well? I mean play the DVD with menu selection screen? Thanks |

If you don't already own an external drive this probably isn't for you. I use it in the kids playroom and it works well for playing MKV files and DIVX files. For my main AV System in the house I use a DVICO TVIX M6500A and love it! (It is much more expensive but has networking, internal hard drive, and can even play DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD formats!) taison said:why would you want to buy this? Thanks Look for the eBay Harmony Remote deal. Get a new all-in-one remote and you will be much happier. |

Come on...If you don't have a large enough flash drive to bring a few movies with you sell off one of you VCR's and spend the 10 bux! No kidding, stupid thread crapper. Why don't you just load up your VCR and HD-DVD player and all your disks then and haul them to your friends house. For the people that don't understand how to use one of these and why...........Go to another forum and learn. For those of us that do, this looks pretty sweet, I have DSM 520 and the DirecTv DVR that plays my files, but the formats are limited. Says OOS, but I'll go ahead and order, see what happens as soon as I find my EPP code. Thanks a bunch OP, I've really been looking for a newer box to handle .mkv, etc |
