I just called T-Mobile to check something on my account. I was about to hang up when I got what I was calling for until the nice Customer Care rep called and asked if I would be interested in adding on MyFaves FOR FREE!

I asked what the catch was. She said there is no catch. She would be able to add on MyFaves to my account for free, and all they ask for is a 1 year agreement. I'm thinking, I just signed up for for the G1, so 1 year isn't a big deal. It actually wouldn't add to my contract.

I was afraid it would mess up my corporate discount, grandfathered plan and features, but they were all untouched. I even asked if anything would be changed. Her reply was that the only thing that is different, is the addition of the Myfaves Add-on.

Sweet! Hope you guys get in on this. The customer care rep said this was a new but limited-time promotion. So if you want in, I would do it SOON!.

I just told the GF about this, and she got it without an contract extension (she's currently out of contract) so YMMV on contract extension or not.

THis deal is offer thru "custumer loyalty dept"...

1) Call Tmobile 611 from your handset or 1-877-453-1304 from any other phone, or go into a Corporate Owned Tmobile store.
2) Enter in your mobile number when prompted, and when the voice prompt asks you what you want to do, say either "cancel" or "retentions"
3) Tell the Retentions rep that you want to transfer to the "loyalty dept", if they ask why, tell them you was talking to the Loyalty rep and get cut off. When you get to the Loyalty rep, simply ask about the Myfave add on promotion
4) YMMV on a contract extension, when I did it yesterday, I had to agree to a 1 year contract extension. Others report being told a 2 year contract extension, some report not having to extend their contract at all.
According to the thread on howardforums, its rumored that this promotion is only good through the end of the month (January).
Also its been reported that going into a Corporate Store is the greatest way to get this added on without having to extend your contract.

fantastic - thanks, will call cs in the morning!

We are on the same family plan for several years now with unlimited mobile-to-mobile (within family + any t-mo number). Can MyFaves be added or will it completely replace mobile-to-mobile?

Looking at t-mo and comparing various plans it can be added on keeping unlimited mobile to mobile. Shows up as + $20 plan.

For more detailed info, search Howardforum's tmobile support page or SD with search string tmobile. AFAIK, today is the last day for the deal and if you are already in MyFavs plan, it will do no good.

No go...Rep said 2yr deal. Oh well.

does anyone know if this would work if you don't have a minutes plan?
I have T-Mobile with my work BB and get charged by the minute for calls (I think it's like $.05/min), but it'd be nice to get free calls!
Thanks

I had been following the SD thread, and it appeared that the majority of people could not swing this deal w/o an additional 1 to 2 year extension to their contracts. Guess it really depended on the CSR that you speak to. Good luck to everyone who calls.

called in.. and CSR said just for Individual line ONLY.. No family plan as she claimed.

carat said: called in.. and CSR said just for Individual line ONLY.. No family plan as she claimed.

Try again. Had to extend my contract, but got the deal. I now have:

- Family plan with 4 numbers
- Free MyFavs for all 4 lines (each line gets their own 5 Favs that they can change every month)
- $9.99 (instead of the 19.99 I was paying prior to this call) for unlimited family sms
- Unlimited Blackberry service on 3 of 4 numbe4rs
- Corporate discount.

How did you get the 9.99 for the unlimited sms? I need to have that! And is the BB service still 19.99?

I've been with tmo under the current name for 6 months, and they(customer care) told me I'm ineligible for transfer to customer loyalty because of it. Anyone in a similar situation?

was anyone with a 1000 whenever minute (promotional) plan able to get myfaves added on to their account without increasing the monthly dues.

cheers!

it was a promotional feature offered a while ago

I went to a T-Mobile store - busy, network down, but a rep told me to call the Customer Service number. I called "611" and asked for the feature; rep didn't know about it, put me on hold, then got approval but only if I either imposed a 2 year contract, or upgraded my current plan by $10/month & 1 year contract. I had to pass on this offer.

Called and the deal was available however I was told I'd have to give up the 10% corporate discount I get (freelancers union anyone?) and it also "required a 2 year contract extension".

I was able to get both the free myfaves and the $9.99 unlimited messaging and keep my freelancers discount. I did have to extend, but it was only for 2 months more than we already had, so I figured the savings were worth it ($20/mo!). I did have to call twice as the first person said they couldn't do it because of my discount.

I did. 1000 any time + free nights & weekends w/corporate (freelancers union) discount. Now w/unlimited my faves.

I have a 2 line family plan for $49 that I had since ages. I called 611 and got the myfavs added for free and no contract extension. Great. Green for OP!

The rep told me that I can't add any 1-800 numbers to myFaves. Anyone knows how to do this?

Thanks! Just called and get all three lines added with my faves free! Since there is still one line with one more year contract I do not need to extend contract of any line!

Forgot to ask if I still keep my corporate discount. Don't know if I should call back to check or just wait until next bill. Anyway, this is great! My tips: keep saying your friend got it with only one year contract and let them get you to a specialist. Then you are all set!

Thanks OP. Got mine added. I don't have to add the 1 yr contract since I am on a two yr contract already.

Thanks OP, got this offer without any contract extension, currently I don't have any contract

I just got off the phone with a T-Mobile rep. He gave me the free Myfaves right away, with a one year extension. So I am saving $20 per month now from what I have been paying. Big green for you, o.p.!!

BTW, my family plan has been with the MYfaves plan for a while now, so this new offer is not only for newcomers.

NYCRule said: Thanks OP, got this offer without any contract extension, currently I don't have any contract

this is nice.. i just called and they want 1 year extension and i'm not tied to any contract.. i've been with them for 7 years and have 5 lines on my family plan.. still thinking about it..

Bummer. I just called and couldn't get the upgrade. Rep said as far as he knew there was no MyFaves upgrade offer available, but he'd be glad to switch me to a more expensive plan. I might try again later this evening.

Green for the OP and congrats to those who got it.

EDIT: Oooooops! I just went back and re-read the original post. Seems I missed the part about "Retentions" and I spoke to somebody in the ordinary accounts dept. I'll try it a little later.

Shame on me for not reading the full post!

ty op! they made me sign up for 2 years though.

Double bummer.

I tried again and the rep refused to transfer me to the Customer Loyalty dept. I guess this just isn't my day.

I'm going to try calling and see if I can get it added. I don't ever use more than 1/2 the minutes on my grandfathered $49.99 FT plan but free MyFaves can't hurt! I've been with them since 2001 and the last time I talked to retentions was when I told them either exchange my BB for a refurb'd one [it was under warranty but PDA support decided more troubleshooting needed to be done, and this was after three weeks!] or I'm leaving. The retentions rep didn't just exchange my BB, she sent me a brand new one for free with no contract extension and said to keep the old one for the accessories and what not.

Anyway, she specifically mentioned that she does NOT like when people call in just to ask for free stuff. So -- don't be so blatant about it, and also remember that everytime you call in the rep has to note your account as to what was discussed. If you lie to them about what the last rep told you, they'll know!

Thanks OP.

T-Mobile CS is awesome. They even looked at my previous bill and downgraded my family plan.

Now with my fav and 2 year extension - I was only in the first half year of my 2-year contract.

Not compatible with cooperate discount. we were getting 8% discount. The downgrade does not affect my use pattern, thus saving several dollars per month is still green.

BTW, anyone knows that if we can share $5.99 T-Mobile web with all family numbers?

Thank you OP, just called and got myself myfav upgrade, and no contract extension.
P.S. I'm also on a family plan, so it will work for family plans too.
P.P.S. only my phone was about to end contract. The other 3 numbers contract ends in 2010. So trying to scare them about cancelling wasn't the biggest factor, i think it was more of me being with them for over 5 years maybe?? In other words it made still work with people who still have a brand new 2 year contract.

Oh forgot i was also able to keep my corporate discount too. GREEN for OP
Good luck all

Just tried to call the T-Mobile. I was told there is scam about myFave on the internet, so no luck on adding it.

I just called 611. A guy from cancellation dept first told me there's no such thing called loyalty dept, but he was able to get someone called Chris on the phone to help me after I insisted.

Chris told me that there's indeed free myFave, but it's not compatible with my account because I have corp discount from Free Lancer Union. However, he was kind enough to give me $6.99 mobile2mobile for free for a year.

I called last night and spoke with a guy named Chris too. He told me that I would lose my corp. discount if I added it. I called back today and the customer rep added it on and didn't say anything about my corp. discount. We'll see when the bill comes. Thanks OP!

i just called right now, i talked to a customer rep, I told them I saw on an online fourm that you guys are offering free myfaves add on, he said yes its something very new, and he added it for me...they did not take off my government discount, but yes there is a contract extension.by the way you dont need to talk to customer loyalty

I got it on my 2 different family plans... the call took 10 mins..

Thanks

Got it with a one year renewal today. Yesterday it was a two year renewal or nothing. Looks like if you've been a long time customer they're willing to forgo the contract (rare) or reduce it to a one year renewal like I got. I'm happy!

as a new customer (with tmo for less than a month), rep. in cancellation dept. refused to offer or transfer me to retention dept.; i was told that my account is too new to receive that. i nicely told the rep. that i had hoped they would add it, as i'm about to make 2 yr. commitment with tmo. the rep. still said no, saying that i'm still too new.

what the heck? i guess they don't care that i could get upset and cancel the whole service. some rep. don't care or don't use common sense. i'll call back tomorrow and ask to cancel the service...will see what tmo will do? anyone had the similar situation?

Thanks OP!
I called last night and got the deal on my $49 family plan on 3 lines with only 1 yr contract. we already had 1 1/2 yr left on one of the lines. Then she also said if we do 2yr contract we can upgrade any or all phones to Blackberry Curve for $79 each!!! I researched and noticed that the Curve is actually a $450 phone and for upgrades it costs $370. We always wanted full keypad data phones for SMS and this one also includes wifi which can be used with any hotspot and no data plan. So I called tonight and ordered three for the 3 lines. Even if we don't use them we can eBay or craiglist them for much more than $79. They said that this was a customer loyalty offer. I went to retention department both times.
Just FYI.

It is actually a retention offer and both reps I spoke with specifically looked at my tenure. You might be out of luck but I'm curious if you can get it with some other rep tomorrow. Be careful what you say though, the rep might just cancel your line if you're threatening cancellation.

I got it.Try hard.
