I called 611- young guy picked up, told him i'm looking to add tmobile unlimited web tzones 5.99 plan to my phone. He said they dont offer it anymore. I told him i had code TZUNL599 , if he could try maybe that will work. also, told him people were able to add it, as recently as today. he said ok, he will try the code. then he put me on hold, came back and said he was able to add tmobile web 5.99 for me!!! Asked him also to add 400 text messages for 4.99. So for $10.99 I have data and text messages.
you kinda make it sound that you are using 3G data connection with t-zones.. is that the case? also, do you have to enter special settings (as in WinMo phones) to get the data to work (for both G1 and Iphone)? what kinda of speeds are you getting. thanks.
I have the tzones 5.99 plan on a 3G TM506 and can tether to my laptop and surf the web at very nice speeds... I got the plan just before they stopped advertising it...
That's really good if you got that deal using a G1 phone !!! I'm assuming you put the SIM back in your G1...
And now you've moved it to an iPhone... nice! How well does the iPhone work on T-Mobile? Can the iPhone use t-mo's 3G network?

I thought you can no longer use Tzone with the Iphone, at least the 2G version.

Yes, put the sim back in iPhone and can surf the web at very nice speeds, not sure if the 5.99 plan is in effect as I changed plan this morning but can confirm surely in couple of days.
what is the difference between tzones and a full blown data plan considering the $5.99 vs $24.99 cost?
How would tzones benefit my regular web enabled phone or blackberry? If it matters I am using pay per minute on tmobile.
thanks

Is there now a way to?
I've been using tzones on my 2g iphone ever since I got it. Hasn't changed.
That's weird because I had mine working up until October. I figured that was the case for everybody. I'm letting my blackberry charge right now and will use that to activate tzones. Hopefully it works. Thanks.

I am using T-Mobile edge as well with iphone 2G. Works as a charm. Very tolerable speed unless you want streaming. By the way I do stream any internet station to my iphone while driving and it works quite well. Can't beat having thousands of internet stations in your car for $5.99
Wireless carriers in the US have a great habit of stating the term "unlimited" in marketing materials only to renege on that message later on. T-Mobile USA's reference to an "T-MobileWeb unlimited for $5.99" would make one think that accessing the web from a T-Mobile phone would be $5.99 (per month) for unlimited usage. The devil is in the details here: as some T-Mo customers are finding out, "unlimited" from the T-Mobile dictionary means regular handsets only using data connections through port 9021. So, are PDA phones and other smartphones left out in the cold here? From all appearances, yes. Those devices generally use port 80 (or 8080), which is blocked for T-Mobile customers subscribing to the $5.99 T-MobileWeb plan. Want more "unlimited" data on that T-Mobile Dash? Better be prepared to shell out $29.99 for that kind of "unlimited" service, unless you want to use T-Mobile's proxy server for everything.
Can someone verify this? I would like to see if I can use this with my unlocked centro.
Can this "trick" be used on an unlocked iPhone 2G with prepaid T-Mobile service?
Thank you!

Menx said: SUCCESS! got it added to my plan.
took 3 different calls. the 2nd one even asked a supervisor.
not to be sexist/ageist...but the last call was a young dude. first two were women. I think one was Jamaican. lol.
Haha, I was about to give up until your post. My first two CS reps were women too. Both were being idiots and asked "WHERE I GOT THIS CODE FROM" and the last one even had the guts to tell me it was an invalid code. I got 5 more hours till the game starts, which gives me plenty of time to get this deal to work.
I swear, I don't understand CS reps sometimes.

This is old new from Slickdeals forum. It has been discussed to death on that forum.
1. Although Tzones 5.99$ doesnt really exist anymore per T-Mobile reps, there are some CSRs who can still get it for you. It took me 12 calls, yes 12 calls to finally get it added to my account. You should never call from an iphone to get this added. use an older phone which had tzones capability. YMMV. 2. You do not need 24.99 plan for G1 except for sign up. Once you have activates the phone, you can very well drop the plan by calling T-Mobile. the 2 year or 1 year contract is for phone and not for the plan. I confirmed this thru 611 as well as in-store. 3. Iphone 1st gen works with 5.99 tzones. You dont need the hack anymore. just use epc.tmobile.com

Got it to work! Strange, took me 3 tries--again, first 2 were women who seemed clueless but tried. Third time was a guy who was able to get it to work in under 1 minute. Repp original poster!

Still no go with this code, but she did tell me that the unlimited Tzones is now 9.99 and includes 200 text messages. I was already on the 400 text message plan for 5 bucks and don't even use 50 a month so this ended up being a better, cheaper deal. So that's another option you guys have if you don't text much and still want internet. Thanks again.
I confessed I've never used a cellphone for Internet connection - just hasn't had the need. But, now that Cablevision raised my mother's rate to a whopping $49.95 a month, bo I'm looking into the possibility of getting her connected via T-Mobile (there is no Verizon service where she lives, probably the last building in the neighborhood that doesn't have it), so the options are pretty limited. She is a very casual user, she spends maybe 30-40 min a day on the net, and she has an older HP laptop. What do you think the cheapest and easiest plan and the phone would be that could get her connected?
Does anyone know if tzones work on the Samsung Behold? Thank you.

I was told by two different reps that this plan is limited to 50MB of usage, so YMMV.

I believe T-Zones is only for flexpay or monthly pay ones... I know kinda sucks. Me using iphone 2g w/ T-Zones (got it 1 month b4 they discontinued) (normal pay account)

Do not do this. T-Mobile and other telecoms intend for this to be used intermittently and not as a substitute for a home ISP. There is a very good chance they will drop this.

those that have G1:
Does G1 + 5.99 Tzone = 3G speed? or just 2g EDGE?
thanks

Now let me ask you guys, should I wait to get the confirmation text before putting my sim card back in the Iphone?
I would think it wouldn't matter, but I did tell them that I was using the Samsung SGH 315 (which I used to make the call)

i have the same situation. called once today, was refused, even after convincing the csr to talk to her supervisor.
